Why do Brundle and Coulthard always act so shocked when Vettel pops up in Q3 with a 0.5sec faster lap than he's done all weekend? it's been obvious for ages that they have some sort of engine tuning go faster button for him.
This is what I don't understand.
Pretty much everybody who watches F1, knows what is coming. Vettel has a great car (which appears to be getting progressively quicker as the season wears on) and IS the polemeister, so when he gets pole...why the shock? And this happens in virtually every qualifying session. It's almost as if they think that he fluked all his previous pole laps.
Any way, prediction for the race:
1. Vettel
2. Button
3. Alonso
I'm can't believe that Vettel won the title with so many races to go. Let's hope that next year RBR don't produce such a great car. The last few races have lacked spice as a result of them having little relevance.
I'm mostly looking forward to pre-season testing, now; tomorrow's race feels like a chore.
So Kimi's not going to Williams. I'm not surprised.
However, it got me thinking. What if Red Bull were to bump Webber, obviously have to pay him all he's due, basically just buying him out of his contract 100%. Then just offer the seat to Kimi - no pay, drive the car for free (or maybe offer half a $million per win). For Red Bull they get a straight swap of Webber for Kimi, for Kimi he gets a seat in what's likely to be a championship winning car. Webber - gets screwed.
Could something like that happen? Would Webber be able to sue RB for far more than his actual 2012 contract claiming damage to his career and lost future earnings?
This is what I don't understand.

Would be no point going "Vettel's going to get pole, but continue watching anyway to see who will get 2nd and 3rd"
Just wait until you see RB8
Alonso seems to believe that Ferrari are going to have a good car next year - they have been running some parts on their car (dodgy front wing) of late, which are verging on illegal, so it seems that they are developing a car which is closer to the "edge".
Roll on pre-season testing...

But in F1, there are potentially loads of drivers who could be in the top 3. Any one of those backrunners in the Virgin, Sauber, HRT, Lotus cars could probably get in the top 3 or even win races given a decent car. Is Webber really any better than Kovalainen, Kobayashi or Perez? Would Hamilton or Button have been in pole most of the season and won the championship if they were in Redbull cars and Vettel was in McLaren? Must be so frustrating for drivers who know they have the skill to win but not the car to back up their talent.
