Do you blame him? lol... He'll be back in 1 in 2015, surely there is some plause in his contract with Merc that says he can leave if they don't put a good car under him.

I think the Merc contract is 2 years with an optional 3rd.

They have openly admitted they don't expect much in 2013, so its all about 2014. If McLaren are good and Mercedes are still poor Hamilton will replace Button if Perez shows some speed, or replace Perez if he doesn't.

I don't understand the hype around this 'showdown', the only realistic chance Alonso has is for Vettel to retire and even then he needs a podium finish with at least 3 faster cars ahead of him.
