Are the new spec parts that good? Or is bottas just slow.

Think Merc pulled the trigger too early signing him again for 2018 he's been bang average 2nd half of the season.

Bottas, rather like Kimi, seems to be a one tire compound driver. Hamilton sets up and has brilliant pace on both tires, in general both Kimi and Bottas always seem to have one decent stint and one crap stint, they seem unable to adjust their car to work on both compounds or on a changing feeling of car over a race distance. Like Kimi was really nowhere and now he's fastest, Bottas was doing really well on supers but has not gone way off.

If Ham can do another 7-8 laps then he should be at least 1.2 seconds a lap faster than he is now I'd think, will that put him in contention, quite possibly.

He's ahead and when Ham pits he's going to be a second a lap faster, a safety car is just going to make it a near certain win, without one it will be very close.
Everyone else gained 1 second or more per lap by pitting, I can't see how Ham won't have the same, even more because of how much further into the race they are and the faster tire on a more rubbered in track. Vettel can barely catch him now, it needs Mercedes to be smart and pit him the second his performance drops off, 2 laps too late and it will be too much to catch up.
