Max could have waited and taken the slipstream on the next two straights and taken the place easily.
Lack of patience for me. Lewis had the corner and Max needed to slow more to take the apex without running wide turning in later.
The stewards see the info, and will know Max's entry speed. Which I suspect is key in him getting the penalty.

lol, exactly. Ham has a history of crashing cars off the track. Max could have hit the brakes (even though he was ahead), but Ham was driving for the apex and would have hit him anyway.

Ham just can't race from any position other than 1st
 Max has a very strong history of doing just the same. Literally everyone stays away from him on the outside of a corner for exactly that reason. Nice to see him get a taste of his own medicine for a change.

Oh dear...what's Maxs nickname...ohh yea. Crashstappen I believe everyone names him. His fans cry as much as he moans.
He's still figuring out his signature move though. Ham already has his "clip the rear tyre" move down.

Sure just like he raced from last to 5th in sprint last year and then from 10th to 1st without hitting anyone. Right you carry on sir.
I know right, was pretty impressive that he managed to do that given his history. Same corner, multiple times in Austria, he crashed people off the track.

Did you watch the clip. He could have slammed on the brakes and Ham still would have hit him. Was a risky move but he was ahead at the start and in control - yes he could have braked to make a move on the straight but there was no room anyway because Ham went for the apex.

I called it evens because, even though he was ahead, it was a risky move. Ham should have left space so those two even out and nobody should have received a penalty, especially with Max having to pit for damage anyway.

Norris pit radio - Lando, 3 questions. How's the pace? How's the tyres? And new soft vs medium?

Norris - Yeah, pace 3. Ummmm . I dunno tyres are ok.

I mean I'm all for Max getting a bit of karma for his shenanigans, but that seemed a weak incident to give it for, unless stewards saw something in the data the cameras didn't make obvious

A lot of cars puffing out lots of brake dust here. Whats causing the extreme brake wear? Long straight into turn one? Altitude causing less cool air into the brake ducts? or is there something else?
