With RAC through my bank (Barclays). Had to call them out 2 times in the past year. First time the car cut out in the fast lane of the motorway, got to the hard shoulder, waited for a few minutes and the car started again, then had an intermittant problem of just cutting out following that. Pulled up on side of motorway and called RAC, the guy came out and refused to tow me as the car would start (despite me telling him of the problems of cutting out) but he compromised by saying if i drove it to a garage of my choice he would follow behind incase i broke down again!
2nd time i called them out was when the alternator disintegrated on the car, managed to limp home to get the car on the drive. Phoned at 9am on a friday, eventually at 5pm i told them not to bother coming out to me. Called them again on the monday, after another wait of about an hour i called back and complained and got a guy within 10 minutes. He agreed to tow the car to a garage of my choice (after ringing his 'approved' garage, strange how he knew everyone on first name terms though... they quoted me £350 for a new alternator fitted), got towed to my mates garage which was 11 miles away, queue another argument as they are only supposed to tow a car up to 10 miles to a garage from a customers drive! New alternator and front discs/pads all done for £220.
