Breakfast suggestions quick easy and healthy?

Not a fan of porridge I don't think I could physically eat it in the morning

It's not that bad

I just pour some milk in a bowl and put a few tablespoons of oats in and microwave for 45-60 seconds. I don't like thick porridge but it's nice if it's mixed right. I also put some muesli in for flavour and eat. It keeps me full till lunchtime.

Total time: 70 seconds

It's quick, easy and healthy. I think if you want anything nicer then you'll have to sacrifice some of the "quick" part :P

And similarly, you're saying that the sugar from an apple is different from the sugar in a chocolate cake?

Get real.

You ask any health expert/nutritionist whatever, and they will tell you that one piece of fruit is all you need a day and any more than that can lead to adverse health effects. Just because your wife lost 4 stone and is now at the right weight for her height etc doesn't mean shes healthy, there's more to health than being thin.

that amount of sugar is bad for her. seriously she could get/have diabetes. i would get her to ask her GP for a blood test.

you dont know the effects on the body and how the whole system works. she wants to be keeping her blood sugar levels low and sustained, not causing huge spikes by having sugary products.

when it comes to insulin, sugar from fruit is no different to sugar from a cake. seriously, i would tell her to cut the fruit down to 2 portions a day max.

regulating insulin levels is a key part of being a healthy individual. seriously she should get a blood test done. looking for diabetes specifically but a full work up just to cover any other bases. fruit isnt as good as what people think it is, its got its bad points too.

Generally, fruit has a low glycaemic index due to the fibre content. This means it does not destabilise your blood sugar levels or cause insulin spikes as you describe. This is talking fresh whole fruit, though, not juices or over-ripe specimens. Concentrate is bad.

You mean like this one?

Seems to have a grasp on what she's talking about, to me. A quick search online about whether fruit is bad for you finds an overwhelming number of responses saying... "Calm down, dear. It's not the same as eating a spoonful of table sugar".

Which it isn't.

I'll bow out here, anyway, as this is obviously going nowhere and derailing the OPs thread intentions. I must say, though, that I find it very disconcerting to hear someone lump a piece of fruit on the same dietary level as a slice of chocolate cake to someone who's trying to manage their weight, and think absolutely nothing of it. Very disconcerting indeed.

moderation is key, i would like to see a table of fruits with a low GI and a table of fruits with a high GI ;).

eating 2 a day is what i recommend max. not the 7 or so his wife has. that amount of sugar is far too high.

Think what you like, I honestly couldn't give a **** about you or your wife's health as bad as it may sound. I'm merely giving the OP some advice from what is fact, whether he or anyone else chooses to listen to it or not and do their own research is up to them, and I wish them luck in gaining good health.
