Breaking a padlock :D

This IS ocuk.

People who can make a Casio calculator run Crysis but cant work out how to bring a packet of peas home from the supermarket without them thawing.

This like all problems can be solved with.. MORE VOLTS!!!!

Plasma Arc cutter is the only way.

Sorry, why haven't you tried an angle grinder?

That lock looks tough but a 4.5" grinder would be through even my Squire Stronghold SS65C in seconds, which is one of the strongest padlocks on the market. They simply aren't up to that sort of punishment.

Get down to Screwfix, get a cheap grinder and a packet of 1mm stainless cutting discs. You'll be through it before you even get back to the office ;)

Who's up for bets on how many saw blades it'll knacker?

I'll bet 50+ LMAO. A £50 padlock will be made out of harder steel than any recip saw blades I've ever tried. Lennox make the best blades (the fire brigade use them) and I went through a pack of 5 trying to cut some hardened steel and that was just a cheapo padlock.

Thats because you are using HSS blades. Get something carbide based, either grit or toothed. Then come back and say it cannot be done.

My first look was to ignore the lock, kill the thing its locked into. Much easier in 99.9% of cases. People forget that that hasp is usually poor quality steel.

OP delivers!!!!!The computer is free! ;)

I really thought it would take ages to saw through this bit it take no longer than 30secs :p

Unfortunately the action shot I took didn't take properly, so I've just get some pics of the tools and the aftermath :p

pppfft not a real man using safety gear, you should have been juggling between your cigar and whiskey while doing this =P

Well done, you went to pointless measures to saw it off when you could have just pulled the broken bit out with pliers and then used the correct key, as people have previously mentioned. :)

We have a high security padlock at work on our Garage door, made from Boron. The key was misplaced once and I was tasked by the MD to cut the padlock open, so armed with a hacksaw I toddled off downstairs to attempt the job.

2 hacksaw blades later I gave up - there isn't even a mark on the padlock where I wore the blades away :o

- we found the key in the end !

Ahh, i didnt realise you were just cutting that bit off. That will just be mild steel, much easier to cut through.

Thought you might have wanted to be able to lock it again.

unless the key broke of properly inside not sticking out. then unless you have some pliers about .2mm thick you aint getting it back out.
