US: Breaking Bad Season 5 Part II - The finale.

So I got this on Blu ray last week and finished the series last night. I think I can safely say I've never seen a TV series as good as Breaking Bad. I fear I will never see anything anywhere near as good ever again.

The final episode was almost perfect. I knew that Walter had used the ricin poison but how he was going to use the gun eluded me until near the end.

The song, Baby Blue, by Badfinger was written in 1971 was a brilliant choice of music to see out Walter and the series.

I would have liked to have seen, somewhere in the 5 seasons of Breaking Bad, more about Walter's mother and perhaps some more of his family history with his father having died young. Perhaps that story could have been used to hint at or demonstrate why Walter became Heisenberg. That story along with the Schwartz' history with Walter and why/how he left the Grey Matter firm and never profited from it.

I can't stop listening to Baby Blue!

Just finished watching the whole lot for the first time on Netflix, watched them all in just over a week! It was definitely a brilliant show with some fantastic episodes.

The train robbery episode was one of the stand out episodes for me, just because I was really happy that they managed to pull it off and then was dumped right back down to earth by the way it ended - total opposite ends of the emotional spectrum in the space of just a few seconds.

Didn't enjoy the last couple of episodes. They felt rushed and tried to cram too much in.

The scene where Walter kills the entire gang with the M60 was just plain stupid. Spoiled the whole thing.

They did say more then once but I know what you mean that it appears less connected. There was a real kid dying of cancer who met the cast before the last season who said the same thing, why did he react so badly to his diagnosis.
In season 5 Walt explains to Jesse Jnr. [funny how'd I'd mix the two] how his dad died of Hutchinsons disease, which if you ever watch House episodes with Olivia Wilde's character you'd know from that is a very extreme debilitating way to die that attacks otherwise normally healthy people
[its genetic but apparently walt didnt have it].

It was just an inserted scene but does in theory explain why he was running scared, instead of being crushed by disease he exploded his psyche and ego! If they'd done a full flashback that might have explained it but in a way this series seems very cut down, inexpensively made

I liked that scene, I thought it was feasible and bullets would rip all the way through anything pretty much. I was not a fan of the second half of season 5, its fairly inevitable its hard to unwind a virtual universe. Couple times it was a bit boring compared to Walt getting away with it previously.
Of course its all very improbable and
the head of the DEA doesnt go into the desert with 1 guy for backup unless he is suicidal, he didnt even need to go at that point so they discredit the character to end it. Walt killed over 10 people and he knew the guy had backup to do that.
The last two episodes were well done with some class scenes always well shot, when he extirpates his wifes involvement with the phone call and the bit with the baby looks so sad even

Just started watching this on 1080p bluray on my projector, don't know why i never watched it yet. But so far its very good, on episode 7 of season 2. Watch them all up to that point in two days last weekend. :D

Such good characters.

It just gets better and better.. Perhaps slows a little mid thru 3rd, but season 4 & 5.... oh boy !! wish i was you, and still not experienced, for what youre about to experience.

For me, the best episode was that when Gus has ordered his guys to kill Walt.
And Walt and Jessie are both in the lab with guns held to them.
Gus walks in, says nothing, does his killing and quietly walks off.

Those 10-15 minutes were very tense.

Best episode for me was when they went down to Mexico and drugged everyone. Gus showed he was willing to do anything for his empire.
