• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Breaking news, first benchmarks for the fermi are leaked.

For starters you have to pay more for such a setup and, more importantly, I can't run two dual-slot graphics cards without losing all my PCI slots (one of which I need for my soundcard, an 18 input / 20 output card I use for multitrack recording). I can clock my card considerably higher but the noise starts to become an issue. As soon as ATi gets some better drivers out I'll try to push it a bit further. If I were to grab a Firewire soundcard to replace my current one (around £400; my current one cost me £350) then I could add a 5850 or another 5970 in Crossfire at a later date, though I'm in no hurry to do so.

I'd love to see a 5970 running 1050MHZ on each GPU core, but I don't think it's going to happen, the whole overclocking side of the 5970 is overhyped.

Troll thread it migh be - but the results aren't that far out for the quoted specs - tho the quoted specs seem to be well off... if you scale the figures by the difference compared to specs elsewhere they do show fairly believeable performance figures.

Ironic Rroff, you know after seeing the 5870 to 4870 spec's, that spec's DON'T equate to real world performance.

See, relating your opinions and estimations to somebody's trolling doesn't particularly help your argument.

Xmas day, nvidia will have a GTX 380 sitting wrapped up under every pc hardware enthusiasts christmas tree in the biggest publicity stunt ever...

I never said that was likely, especially given the limited cooling capacity, but clocks in excess of the 5870 are easily possible. The card is a very strong overclocker, though obviously the 50% overclocks you describe are unlikely. But how many cards have EVER had that sort of overclocking capability? Not many. But slap on watercooling and I think it's perfectly possible.

why does everyone think they are fake....

o wait these are ati forums.... Tbh if they were fake they would have atleast made them look een better.
So people questioning the legitimacy of unverified benchmark results is an obvious indication that this forum is full of ATi fans that refuse to listen to reason? That's as disgusting at the people you're criticising. I don't trust any results until their validity is confirmed and even then I prefer to look at multiple reviews in order to make a fair assessment. The results aren't impossible but the source is far from trustworthy and there's plenty of reason to distrust them. Best just to treat the results as plausible but lacking validity. So, to turn it around... why do you think they're genuine? I could just as easily make graphs that show the exact opposite.
