Is anyone else getting really fed up with US TV shows taking breaks every few weeks now. We seem to get a few esp's and then boom, it's not on for another 2 weeks or some other random time.

It has a lot to do with Sport and other major events such as political events.

It wasn't so bad when I lived there because we would be watching the sports events that caused those breaks but looking from the outside in it does get rather annoying.

I don't mind the laid out in advance mid season breaks that most shows do where they can give you a cliffhanger and be back in a month and you know it's coming, with an odd exception I can get behind their "Start in September, cliffhanger at Christmas, Cliff hanger in March" ways.

The seemingly random schedule of stuff like Limitless is a different matter though, these past two weeks feel like the first time two episodes have aired on consecutive weeks in months.

I know this is the reason but isn't there enough channels to have a 'sports event' channel so people who don't want to watch sport (there are some) can watch the shows they usually watch :o

I haven't noticed too many shows taking prolonged breaks but I hate mid-season breaks. It seems most US shows will slap a couple of months break half way through the season.

They need to take a leaf out of Netflix's book and release the whole season at once :D

I don't let it bother me anymore, I get disappointed when I binge watch a whole series and I have to wait and same when I only get 1 episode a week, so it doesn't really matter anymore lol.

It's getting annoying for some shows yes which is why I'm more likely these days to wait for the UK release and watch it weekly there without the breaks.

Prime example is The Good Wife, it's off more weeks than it's on currently where as the UK release is a episode every week without fail. By the time it'll end in the US the UK will probably be a week or two behind.

Yeah i did that with Arrow and The Flas.... oh wait. No, before the break the US and the UK were a week apart. After then break, the UK was two months behind  stupid scheduling nonsense.

I think both of those are now a week behind the US as it hasn't been on for the last few weeks over there for some reason.

I really hope they haven't held The Flash up purely for the tie in episode with Supergirl.

S03e12 was on last week, US have seen e15 i think? we've got e13 over here tonight and the us has e16 some time tomorrow, so back to two weeks. but still,. having a break over Christmas and then having to wait until feb to continue watching was just annoying :p Waht was worse, though, was there was no mention of when it was coming back at all anywhere that i could find until a week or so before they both continues over here. I think it was just handled badly.

This is why I can't watch anything 'live' so to speak. I let them build up (usually half a season) then binge watch in a few weeks or something.
Currently letting Walking Dead build up, can't stand having to wait weeks between episodes.

Nowadays the big shows have almost gone to two mini seasons, which works well for viewers really.
