Brian Cox series on BBC

I think he's fantastic, I have a small crush on him despite being as straight as they come, the only problem I have is listening to him, he's so relaxing, the first two episodes I fell asleep listening to his voice!

Great guy, great series...

Would love to see more on this type of stuff on the BBC! I wouldn't resent paying the license fee then :p

I would have to agree, more of this kind of stuff is what we need to see and have available on BBC.

I think Brian Cox brings new things to the TV and he comes across in a pleasant and non-patronizing's way, which keeps me interested :)

He's beginning to bring out the gayness in GD.

its not a science program,

its a BBC film crew following a guy doing a (very expensive) adventure / site seeing holiday, how happens to talk about science a lot...

dont get me wrong its entertaining, but can you imagine how much it must cost, are there any two scenes where he is in the same place, or jsut a normal place...

less than they'll eventually sell the series for to other broadcasters or get from dvd sales i imagine.

Whilst this is slightly true (they do use a lot of similar clips in multiple episodes)...

I would rather they spend the money on this than "snog marry avoid", "Freak like me" etc, etc...

I have to agree a little, I wish there was a bit more scientific fact and explanation - but it's still entertaining.

problem is for more fact you need maths.

good hard maths.

which ain't that fun without a notepad an pen to jot things down but then it feels like school and you feel guilty drinking while watching :(

It's well presented, as in it looks beautiful.

Cox, I thought he was great in the first series, I think his most recent was a little "meh" he avoids talking about religion (and I agree with Private Eye) because he's trying to sell this to an American audience. Also, his examples and his language seems to trying to hard to be simple and come across a bit daft.

I don't mind that he travels around a lot, they look stunning in blu ray

I think he goes into just enough detail to keep you guessing...

I enjoyed his analysis of Entropy and Enthalpy... Never got it properly until he explained it (although saying that my Science teacher was more interested in teaching us global politics than chemistry)

it's not as good as wonders of the solar system that's for sure. I think they've cottoned on to his "thinking woman's crumpet" status as well because there's far too many shots of him on top of a mountain staring wistfully off into the distance

B@

I think the main crux of the program is inspiration rather than information, and the cox does a good job in that regards, having said that, he does have a very punchable face.

Agree with that - thought that series was very interesting, although a lot of it was already common knowledge (to those interested), it was nice to have another take it on it. It was the strength of the first series that got me watching this one really. :)

It doesn't need to be - unless you want to take it to theoretical levels of explanation - a little bit of analogy or basic; "as distance tends to infinity then the gravitational forces become 0", is neat and self explanatory.

There's a little too much general chat rather than hard scientific explanation - however, in spite of that, it does get the mind wondering and that's the strength of this program, it opens your mind/eyes a little. :)

Agreed with this.

I think the guy is fantastic. A guy who is clearly passionate about his field of study. He seems genuine and thouroughly decent...

it appears that these days you can't even smile and appear approachable without upsetting or irritating someone....what a shame!!

Agreed to be honest ppl in this thread and what iv seen in the general media need to stop being picky and listen to the program instead of judging his hair or moaning about how he smiles?

Humans are confusing, the programming and information are 2nd to none yet this petty judging goes on. He's a fantastic individual who has done a lot of good for everyone in general, for science and getting the 'wonders' of the universe message across.

Agreed with this.

Maybe in the next series they should have a section that goes more indepth into the subject... Just as "Life" had a "the making of" section...

Watch some "Into The Universe With Stephen Hawking" DVDs.
The way he explains things is very understandable to anyone.
