Pure british V8 powah!

Oh, that reminds me... I saw my first MG ZT V8 tonight  What a noise it made! Shame there's not much that's british about it.

You knows it, it's OURS!!!

Not quite, the Cobra in that pic is a derivative of the british designed AC Ace.
The original Ace became the 289 Cobra with narrow arches, then the body was redeisgned by Shelby to become the 289 widebody (same style as the pic you show). The Chassis was transformed to accomodate the 427s/o engine that is the typical Cobra you see in your minds.
Essentially British Originally, but the BUTCH Cobra is certainly not a British design :(

I think he probably knew that, and was saying "You knows it, it's OURS!!!" in an ironic fashion :) Maybe I'm wrong though.

Either way, it's the best of both worlds. British sports car styling, and American V8 power.

Worlds first ever transverse mounted engine (as featured in mini's everywhere), small cars everywhere should thank mr Alec Issigonis for this design innovation :D

A series british layland engine by the way, only ever featured in british motors (afaik) - and before you say it, no this one doesnt pop a HGF every 3 miles :>

^ that one's mine, cleaned up :>

Yup, Rover V8 is derived from Buick's 215 V8, which they withdrew after a while due to the Americans not being able to understand the aluminium heads and how to care for them.

That's why the V8 engined P5, the first Rover to carry it, was called the P5B - the B stood for Buick :)

I still see it as a 'Rover' engine though, after all, they made best use of it :) As did many other British companies - Marcos, TVR, Land Rover, etc...
