Was just going to ask if that as an A series. Looks great RiPz.

Strictly speaking, mine is an A+ Series - a revised version of the A series, it has fins on the side for strength and better heat dissipation etc. same basic engine though :P

Yup, Rover V8 is derived from Buick's 215 V8, which they withdrew after a while due to the Americans not being able to understand the aluminium heads and how to care for them.

Yep. Damn shame really - it wouldn't have been the route to ultimate power in NASCAR or drag racing circles, but if they'd stuck with it and educated the public then it would probably still be in full-scale production today.

That's why the V8 engined P5, the first Rover to carry it, was called the P5B - the B stood for Buick :)

Mmmmmm........P5B...........

I still see it as a 'Rover' engine though, after all, they made best use of it :) As did many other British companies - Marcos, TVR, Land Rover, etc...

Still a Buick motor :D

SO WHAT'S NEW :D

Buick never made a bad engine :)

Oldsmobile on the other hand......oh god, the 350ci diesel. The horror.....an engine so fundamentally flawed that it should never have made it out of the first hour of testing.

Oh, that reminds me... I saw my first MG ZT V8 tonight  What a noise it made! Shame there's not much that's british about it.

Really?

I just thought that the engine was American but the rest was British? I've got my eye set on one as a possible replacement for the ZR

Was that the infamous one which was based on a petrol block and which would blow up randomly?

Ok, so the 410 has a Chrysler under the hood, but why not? Cheddar cheese doesn't always come from Cheddar!

And I reigned in my personal preference to only 2 triumphs!

Lol, my dad had a Dax replica, red with white stripes with 427 ACE as the plate and used to edit the Cobra club magazine :D

Little bit like the AC. Built in this country by Lola with a Ford US 4.2.

Trouble is, so many cars have major parts sourced from all over its hard to quote something truly british. The McMerc SLR was built in this country (wasn't it???) Mclaren F1 had a BMW engine.

AFAIK the first BMW was actually some kind of really old Austin they took apart and rebuilt themselves.

Austin 7 built under license as the Dixie :) Sure-fire way of winding up any BMW management type is to remind them that their company started out by building Austin 7s!
