british 11 v foreign 11

No it wouldnt (otherwise he would have at least played for GB in some game when he was playing regularly)

'Foreign' players do become eligable to play for another country after a certain amount of time and under certain conditions, I remember it being a possibility that Di Canio could have played for England a few years back.

If cuddicini was eligable - he would have played if at all possible - there really isnt any arguement about that he was if anything equal to Seaman / Robinson when he was playing week in/week out for Chelsea

Even when he wasnt playing week in week out, he could have got a run out in a friendly to see why how good he still is.

So your argument is simply that we haven't taken up that option?

I'd guess it hasn't been considered for the same reason Di Canio wasn't considered, just because they're eligable doesn't mean they're considered English by the public or those that pick the teams.

Exactly, I'm pretty sure that although these foreigners are eligible to play the FA simply won't select them because of the fuss it would cause.

CC hasn't got a UK passport and has said before he'll never play for England because he's Italian...

Yes it would :p ;)

Like MrG said Cudicini chose not to become eligible for England for moral reasons. The reason why any other player has done this is because if they are good enough to get into the England side, then its very likely that they have already been capped by there own national side.

But it is possible.
