Idiots... You have to now pay extra monthly to get a guaranteed next day callout...

How pathetic is that, and the fact that they hung up is the rudest insult and i would change supplier due to that fact.
 
As far as I know, the bills are due for payment on the day you receive them. If you play the system with 'paying them as late as possible' you can expect to receive some kind of reminder IMO.

Thank god for direct debit, I'd be absolutely knackered without it :D

You get a date on the bill that you have to pay by, it's not the same date you receive it.
 
N Power are much worse :D

Worse company in the world EVER! We switched after 3 months of them still not being able to get our names right or getting the right gas meter number despite numerous calls to tell them the right information.

With Powergen now and not had any problems what so ever with the switch over/service so far. They're excellent.
 
Why pay them early? BG probably make millions extra in interest from all their customers paying their bills early.

Pay them the last day they are due.
 
Because you're not actually paying them early, or giving it to them so they can put it in a bank account and pay someone at a later date, energy bills are usually for services already provided ie. for past billing periods.

Yeah, but you'd be giving them the money earlier than necessary. It doesn't matter if it's for services already tendered - if you pay them earlier than the "final payment date" then they're going to make extra interest that the customer could have instead.

Normally I wouldn't care about this, but why let them have even an extra penny when they're so downright incompetent?
 
they certainly are pathetic i pay extra for the kitchen appliance cover and service and their service is dire. my oven has stopped working; having logged this will british gas i was told their call out would be in 6 days. when they did come they sent a gas engineer rather than the required electrical. turns out they took my details wrongly when i signed up. when i rearranged it i made sure they knew the right details, only for the same problem to happen again. it has now been almost two weeks and i have been without my oven for this long. regret getting this cover now (250 ish a year)...
