British Grand Prix 2015, Silverstone - Race 9/19

Got tickets for my parents who are both going on Saturday and Sunday. They'll be in the club Silverstone stand. It's their first race and they're looking forward to it. They've got parking passes for the main Silverstone parking area.

What time should they look to arrive at the track on both days to avoid the traffic?

To avoid the traffic? February.

Silverstone traffic :(

At least it's not (forecast to be) raining. That adds at least 10 years onto your entry/exit.

Have you sat there before? First time at Farm Curve for me, hoping it will be a good view of the cars. I know it'll be different to Maggots/Becketts and the International Pit straight. :)

Its an ok viewpoint I was there last year as well in with all the McLaren lot, we will all be watching the back of the pack keenly..... :'(

Cool, I'm really looking forward to it, I've done the International Pit straight, Maggots and Becketts, Luffield, on the bridge at Wellington etc. before so fancied a change. Will be nice to see some lock ups for a change :) and the start will be mega going into village I'm sure of it! :D

Reports that something has changed with traffic management around Silverstone this year and queues are back to being pretty bad :/

In recent years when it was dry it was quite easy getting in/out, bad queues I thought were a thing of the past or related to bad weather, but seemingly not :(

Yeah, when they moved from the old A43 to the bypass. When it was just the one road going up the dadford road, it was carnage. So much so that I was able to do my GCSE geography on it and do questionnaires with people waiting in the traffic.

I miss living in Silverstone on the GP weekend.

Has it ever been anything but pretty bad?

Once they changed the roads AND the weather didn't affect the carparks/fields then it was relatively smooth. 2012 I think it was was a complete nightmare getting out of the circuit on a Friday, so much so we gave up and went back into the circuit to just walk around. This was after it nailed it down all day and cars were forced to double-stack in the better areas due to the fields being a no-go zone.

Not sure what was up today, but saw loads on Twitter commenting it was bad.

Going by Will Buxton's twitter it looks like they haven't really told anybody the A43 is only for Silverstone, so people are still trying to use it to cut between the M40 and the M1. Lots of people who aren't actually going to Silverstone are being diverted into the car parks and then are having to get out again.

Sounds like classic British organisation to me :p

So BBC can't even get the British grand prix to show live? I don't know why I bother with TV Licence any more.

Been watching most of FP1 through BBC website, finished ~20mins ago.

However, unlike normal, the default live practice went to text commentary. I had to click the "live coverage" icon to bring up the live streaming.

LOL :o

So someone forgot to put the signs out!

Balls... I drove up the M40 earlier in the week and the week before and the signs were up saying the A43 was going to be closed. No different from other years.
