British Grand Prix 2016, Silverstone - Race 10/21

10 second penalty. Down to third. From Adam Cooper.

Barely a slap on the wrist if what Rosberg says is true and without the radio advice he would have stopped and lost all points. The stewards again show that it's better to cheat, because even if you get caught, there's advantage to be had.

That's twice now Rosberg has been caught out, so maybe the stewards are sick of his shenanigans.

So Rosberg will have to change a gearbox, will he get a 5 place grid drop, or do they only get penalties if parts are changed during a race weekend?

Christian Horner already saying that the teams will now male a call on whether telling the driver banned radio is worth more than 10 seconds to them.

10 Second time penalty imposed after the race in accordance with Article 38.3 (10 seconds added to elapsed race time)

Having considered the matter extensively, the Stewards determined that the team gave some instructions to the diver that were specifically permitted under Technical Directive 014-16. However, the Stewards setermined that the team then went firther and gave instructions to the driver that were not permitted under the Technical Directive, and were in Breach of Art. 27.1 of the Sporting Regulations, that the driver must drive the car alone and unaided.

Personally, glad there's a penalty, but it's not that much of a deterrent. Should have been a Stop&Go or 25s imo.

That's twice he's got of lightly this year.

Expect a rosberg video still adamant that his radio call did not break the rules and he can't see why he was punished.

It also seems like that instructions are allowed to alert the driver to a problem. (Which remains consistent with what happened with Hamilton).

It was Rosberg's dumb question about what he should do with regards to driving around the problem that got him in trouble?

For Hamilton, driving around the issue or correcting it obviously wasn't as easy.

Just need coded language now.

Could someone remind me of Hamiltons issue at Baku? Didn't he ask the team for guidance and they no?

Well they told him that one of the settings was wrong and it wasn't anything he did. But they couldn't tell him how to fix it.

My interpretation here is that they could tell Rosberg the 7th gear is broken.

But he was stupid enough to ask what he should do about that, and they were stupid enough to tell him.
