BROADWELL-E ALL THE THINGS!!!

depends entirely on how it's being used.

Physx scores on 3dmark show a 32 core xeon with 2.8GHz to be a little bit slower than a 5960X @ 4.5 but on cinebench the xeon would be faster

Only had a play with the 6800k so far it's a bit of a lively thing :) did 4.4 after a bit of convincing

I would like to have a play with the 6900K, but can't justify the cost to myself. My Skylake build does everything fine. Literally no need to change it other than wanting to have a play with Broadwell -E :p

Think GTX 1080 is enough expense for now. Bloody Founders Edition ...

it would destroy it in a game like total war,

that said whether the price would be worth it for gaming is upto the customer.

Best thing about this extreme chip is that it actually exists. For someone who thought that their would be absolutely zero upgrade path for the X99 then in a few years it's a Godsend!!! :D

I tell you what I would like OCUK to do is to sort out the shopping cart so that it remembers the users basket between sessions. When ordering multiple parts, especially for a new PC, I tend to decide over a day or so as I put a basket together, check the price, , do a little research, maybe change a few items, but as soon as the browser window is closed and reopened again the lot is lost :(.

This is my current basket for my new system. All going into a Corsair Graphite 780T. Memory I'm undecided on, I want the Corsair Dominator Platinum 128GB kit, but OCUK don't stock it and it is proving difficult to find in stock anywhere. May end up with a 64GB kit of the same in the end.

I need a few other minor bits and pieces but I'll get them during the build (cable combs and other cosmetic stuff) once I know what I'm going to need.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £4,040.84
(includes shipping: £0.00)

I use the wishlist function till I'm ready to buy/order everything...

You know what, that's probably exactly what I should be doing - thanks. I'm just used to using one single cart with other sites, rather than a wishlist and a cart :D.

Nice build Benedict

Quick question for anyone, is the Dual/Quad channel memory okay for the X99 or does it have to be marked as just Quad Channel? Some of the Kingston memory is marked with Dual/QUad although in the specs it only mentions Skylake compatibility.

Not sure why you are skimping on the memory, you want at least 64Gb in there !

Don't forget you might get a bag of Haribo if you're lucky :D
