Broadwell-K i7 5775C/i5 5675C

*cough* boomstick *cough*

:D

Lol :D

No Skylake for me, using X99 now. Thought the mainstream 4/8 core/thread Broadwell and Skylake looked a bit meh tbh, so with some ingenuity and some extra long cables I've managed to fit my X99 PC into my room. So no longer limited to small form factor. Using my trusty CM 690 III and X99 / 5820K once more and it's very nice. I think Skylake -E would be my next upgrade but that's likely years away tbh.

Smoked my old bench score http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/9867137, I think this puts me ahead of Gregster :p

CPUs are just boring these days.

Even with the regular die shrinks etc, we just don't really get much progress. Can you imagine if nVidia and AMD shrunk GPUs like Intel shrink CPUs?

A version of the 980ti on intel 14nm would be an awesome thing....

I rather have it this way compared to 15 years ago.

Buy a CPU now it can last you at least 6 years not 6 months.

True. The current situation is only bad if you're obsessed with upgrading for the sake of it (IMO). Current CPUs are fantastic and probably won't be improved much until the next big shift in computing (presumably HSA). The last one was probably the introduction of multi-core CPUs and that was 10 years ago.

Lol @ AMD losing the IGP crown. "Intel can't catch up" they said.

Who knows what will happen once K chips arrive, The 4790K being "faster" is somewhat short sighted, given its clock advantage.
This is why I didn't understand a lot of the negativity towards Broadwell, what Intel have done with is silly good.

There will be no 'K' chips for Broadwell - this is it, the two 'C' models. Next up is Skylake in August.

Oh damn - just saw this posted on the Anandtech forums:

http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Broadwell-Codename-259477/Specials/Intel-Broadwell-Test-Core-i7-5775C-i5-5675C-Iris-Pro-Graphics-6200-1160517/

They tested with a dedicated GPU (780ti) and the 5775C actually beats the 4790k and 5820k in some games, loosing in some and matching them in others.

That's quite impressive, the 5.5% IPC gain and the 128MB eDRAM must be responsible for these performance numbers, considering the clock speed disadvantage it has compared to the 4790k/5820k.

Note they are testing at a very low resolution (720p) to further exaggerate the performance difference etc. Still impressive.

The IGPU is seriously impressive. Performs around the GTX 560 (Non Ti) Level..

Let's just think about that, a 65W CPU with IGPU that performs that well. AMD have lost the only card they had left to play which was APU graphics..

CPU performance is also excellent, look at the power envelope / clock speeds. This chip is excellent !

Hopefully the pressure is on to get Zen out the door fast !

Price wise, pcgameshardware.de review mentioned it was only $27 more expensive than the 4790k - I expected it to be much more expensive than this, so another win :)
