Got my Icybox today for my bro, and seagate 500gb. Fitted the hdd, and plugged the sata/power cables in, then when it came to putting it inside the enclosure and screwing it up so it cant slide out....the ruddy thing wouldn't screw in as the screws are about 3mm out of place!!!!

It will only go in one way aswell due to a LED at the front and a "hole" where it shows through. I also noticed that a transparent plastic bit under the bottom which shows the "activity" had been screwed in so tight it had cracked it and the end bit was hanging off!

Phoned up the company I got it from and they said they will email me :S Not heard anything yet (I phoned at 5) so looks like I gotta wait till tomorrow :/

I have the exact same one with a Seagate 320GB SATA 7200.10 in it, I didn't have any problems fitting it together, I did notice when sliding the HDD tray into the external covering that you had to exercise a bit of care as it was quite a neat fit, but did fit correctly. Also noticed that to get the 4 screws that hold the tray into the external covering on the bottom screwed in properly, I had to hold the whole assembly upright, ie so that the s rubber covered feet were facing downwards. But mine has been working fine since I got it.

Bit of a downer when something new doesn't work as it should do!

Do hope you get it sorted. :)

Thanks for the reply, I had a fiddle and tried doing it the way you said but it still doesn't work - I have notice the silver "Trim" at the back isn't pushed on properly, and however hard I try it wont fit flush, its only about 1mm out so its prob not causing the enclosure to fit in properly as its atleast 3mm out on the screw holes.

I hate RMAing stuff, takes so long! :(

Actually, this does not need to be an RMA (I believe), you can just return it too the retailer as faulty for a refund or replacement (there are 2 time periods that count, 7 days (Distance Selling Act?), or up to 28 days), and this should not take too long.

If I'm wrong on the above, I'm sure someone will kindly correct me! :)

I still need to wait for an email back from them, then send it back to them, wait till the have received and checked that its not working correctly, and then they send me a new one - so probably next week now :( When I phoned them I asked if they would send me a replacement (yesturday) but they wouldn't :(
