Hello Guys

After my bro seeing my new PC and SSD, and the speed, he decided to get the M4 SSD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-009-CR

However after installing the ssd and doing a clean install, the drive is very very
slow, this was a easy setup on my PC with the Rampage 4 and 3930K, but this one I cant figure out!!

Here is what I've done:

Install to the right port (sata 3)
updated all driver and windows update
Update Bios
Made sure its running on AHCI mode

Here are the speeds I am getting:

If Im right these speeds are worse then sata 2

Motherboard is Asus P7P55D-E LX (1156)
I Core5

Something Marvell 91xx driver comes up on boot, then goes into windows like normal but slow. I thought ssd don't like marvell controllers

Any help would be great!!

yeah got the latest firmware, if I plug it into the Blue ones, it will only give my brother pc sata 2 speeds, well its better what he is getting right now I guess,

my brother is using the Asus P7P55D-E LX, that's the one im dealing with here. rampage 4 is my and that's fine.

Asus P7P55D-E LX has sata 3 but they are marvell ports, so they are crap

They aren't crap, they are "internet" crap, IE if one port shows 250mb's in a benchmark and the other port shows 249mb's, its beyond horrific, its world ending, its crap :p

Marvell controllers are less good, a marvell sata 3/6gb's port is capable of WAY higher speeds than an intel sata 2 port and isn't exactly far off intel sata 3 speeds.

Something is odd, I'd try new marvell drivers most likely and potentially have a looksie on the Crucial website, there might be some firmware/driver combination that doesn't work particularly well.

Also check things like cache-writes enabled and the like to see what's going on there.
Performance should be higher, significantly higher, hard to tell exactly what its from. Check asus for driver updates, marvell's site maybe, often Asus don't update older boards, you might find a newer driver on a newer Asus mobo that has a marvell chipset and get the latest drivers from there.

It should be doing better but the controller on that board is a Marvell 912x (not sure which one) and they're rubbish compared to Intel SATA 3.

The much better Marvell 9182 controller is the one which will come close to Intel SATA 3.
