Browser based games for thin clients (no sound, anims)

Here at work the only machine we have is a thin client connected to a Solaris server. I managed to compile DosBox but due to the connection via the server being over the internet (rather than LAN), streaming anything (animation, music, whatever) is pretty much impossible. MP3s are so jerky it's not worth trying.

Unfortunately this machine (and its internet connection) are the only things keeping me sane here, since my job involves pretty much absolutely nothing. So I'm basically looking for some form of browser-based entertainment. Turn-based, text-based, whatever.

Can someone recommend a particularly good browser game or website? Being on a thin client means that sound will be turned off, and animations will cause all sorts of nasty banding effects, so best really to not have them :(

Any ideas?

Do you have access to a terminal emulator? I assume you do since you were able to compile software for yourself. If so you can't go wrong with Nethack, the most 31337 game ever. :)

Universe Wars is pretty fun. It's a Civilization-like game played over the web. Start an account and try it out. The rounds last about 3 months so prepare to get addicted. :p
EDIT: Find it at http://uwars.com

i feel discriminated against :(

not sure what to suggest, if you have 10-20 mins spare try Gridlock , flash puzzle game.

I used to have terminal access, but as of this morning, I don't :p I was never supposed to have it, as it turns out. It's probably true to say that <1% of the staff here have used Unix before, so it seems they weren't too worried about leaving in access to the terminal. But I was asked not to use it now... think I might have crashed a server or something with DosBox :(
