BSN

Pulsar_GTI - I know you like these products but perhaps if I use an automotive analogy to illustrate my point you'll see where I and others are coming from.

All the claims made by the major (marketing lead) supps manufacturers are like those adverts you see for "high performance" back boxes adding 5bhp due to "unique advanced hi-flo composite baffle technology". Or the carbon fibre effect panels "reducing roll centre" because of "precision engineered carbon composite". In both cases there is an improvement but not half as much as the marketing guff would have you believe. You could probably get more from your exhaust with a cheaper de-cat pipe and why pay for a plastic panel with CF effect film when you can get the vanilla plastic panel for less?

Cell-Tech, Maxi-Muscle, CNP, Reflex etc etc all have products based on fairly well researched base supplements then to give themselves a competitive advantage the add words like "unique delivery matrix" and "extreme vaso compound" to the packaging, throw in some extra ingredients (often with no n standard names) and add a massive mark up. Not once have a i said that these products don't work and if you're getting results then great, its just that the claims are wildly over the top and they add ingredients that are not strictly necessary.

You've said previously that you like the convenience but i'll say again, I'd rather spend 15mins preparing a batch of potions and powders that i've sourced myself rather than throwing unknown amounts of unknown chemicals down my neck.

And finally.....remember that Ronnie Coleman would be massive despite using BSN not because he does!! ;)

lol nicely worded :)

I see where your coming from

How much would it cost to mix the ingredients separately ?

Not much, myprotein now do a mix service, so you choose what you want and in what quantity and thye put it in a tub for you.

FrannoBaz - you could have done more than 12 reps as you didnt reach failure over 4 sets?
that stuff is better than most (if not all) illegal substances then?

Its likely to cost about the same to mix your own BUT you'll get more product and a smaller serving size (ie. less filler) so overall the cost per serving will be much lower.

Here's an example.........MP do a NOExplode type product called Pulse http://www.myprotein.co.uk/formulas/our-formulas/pulse/

Assume that 1kg of Pulse will cost £30 (with flavour and postage) you get the following:

1000g at 15g per serving = 66 servings therefore 1 serving costs £0.45

If we assume that NOExplode costs £28 (inc postage) for 0.82kg:

820g at 50g per serving = 16 servings therefore 1 serving costs £1.75

On a per serving basis NOExplode is 4 times more expensive than the MP premix.........and buying separate ingredients will be cheaper still especially if you're a real man and down a foul tasting mix!! :D :D

Is NOExplode 4 times better than Pulse? Is NOExplode 4 time "cleaner" than Pulse? I've taken neither but from experience of the major ingredients i seriously doubt it.

EDIT: Took a mix of 1g AAKG, 2g Taurine and 3g CEE about 30mins ago. About to go to the gym, will report back with news of "insane pumps" in an hour ;)

Or you could import your stuff from the USA like I do and save upto another 60%!!! ;)

Guys who buy all this NOExplode stuff really are just having their pants pulled down and bottoms spanked, sorry guys but it's true. Almost makes me wince when I see how much they pay... almost :D

£1.75 per serv? jeezus I get my stuff so cheap it's almost impossible to work out per serv costs.

I'm not going to go on about differenet supp's but as an little example:

ADAM's Mens multivit (240 tabs) = £16
NOW Super Enzymes (180 tabs) = £5.66
NOW "00" Caps (750) = £3.90
Rhodiola Rosea (100g) = £7.30
Total = £33

The same from Myprotein would have cost me £100! and they're one of the cheapest places to by from in the UK. Compared to high street prices and crap like NO-Explode the savings are incredible.

The pump ingredient in that product is AAKG, I'd guess that in a tub (820g) about 100g of it is AAKGg. How much is this stuff £30 a tub?

I just got 1kg of AAKG for £23.... something like £0.06 per serv

Im going to Canada next week, will see what i can get from there :)

Yeh BSN cellmass i got for £18 which is really good - Some of these shop do charge a bomb, i would really like to know how much of a mark up these shops put on !?!

What the hell are you going to do with 1kg of AAKG?! You'll explode man!!;)
haha, it's the minimum order!

I'll probably sell 500g of it down the gym to someone for £30 ;)

I don't just use it for a pump product though, arginine has many beneficial uses so I take a lot more than just 1g like you.

so basically you are taking on pfizer by making your own herbal viagra :p
Mate I had to google pfizer to know what you meant, how did you come across the name? haha ;)

I've never tried viagra, I'm of the mind 'if it aint broke...'. It worries me that using it might somehow lead to problems? I mean if you use it and it's ace then how will you react after? Human nature to always want more... that's why even though I'm a 'try anything once' type of guy in most scenario's, I've never been tempted to try the really hard drugs or steroids.

quite the same, there is a moral limit in my mind as to what i would do :]

surely you have seen the Pele adverts for viagra? *cough* hehe

So easy (for some) to get fooled by the supplements hype. From my own research and by talking to people that i trust, i learned that supplements are a waste of time, money and faith.
