Getting frequent BSOD's now with a code of 7e... Corrupted OS

I do not have a Win 7 disc any more so I cannot run a repair on my OS AFAIK can I?

How am I best to go about fixing this?

Thanks :)

You can download windows disks legally from various places.
Not got any links as the ones i used is gone now.

Have you ran any tests to find out why os got corrupted in first place?

Memtest is the first one to check the ram with as thats the most common.

Have you been overclocking at all?

I was OCing and benching a lot around the new year but have since been running at 4.5... (2500K)

Temps have been great as it's all under water.

Been getting the odd blue screen which I think was 03 something -Add more VCore so I went back to default but the BSOD's became more frequent...

It has since corrupted the OS :/

I'll try Memtest :)

What voltage you been running?

Obv if doing at stock its not the oc thats causing it.

Possible to corrupt os by pushing the oc too far but been years since its happened to me...back in socket A days i think and was caused by the oc on the ram that went with it rather than just cpu oc as we can do now.

How long since you did a clean install?
Checked for malware etc?

Good thing to do after clean install and getting all setup as you like is to make a recovery image on an external or mem pen...then you can just boot from cd and tell it to repair using that image..back up and running in 15 mins or so.

Life saver if you get a nasty virus (fixing someone else's computer)

Need a disk still though for that.

If memtest shows up then do the usual one stick in different slots test to find out which it is (or even if its a slot at fault)

Raising the voltage for ram can (sometimes) overcome error but if it wont run memtest at stock then RMA if under warranty.

(ps a sig is handy so we know what you have :) )

Hope you get it sorted :)

I cannot remember, it's my stable OC I've been running for ages and had flashed it off a USB drive.

Although this may have something to do with why my chip has perhaps degraded a little :p

A couple of months... went back to Win7

Checked for malware etc?
Ran a full Kaspersky scan and it's all clear.

I did try to take some disk images and save them to a spare 1tb drive I keep in a cupboard out of the way but I don't know if it was successful... I'm a complete failure when it comes to backups-I manually drag and drop my pics and vids to spare drives...

Had a google for a memtest download but I couldn't find one that looked legit... I'll have another browse.

create bootable usb stick and put it on there, then boot into it (that's if you have no dvd burner)

bsod code 24 or 124? 124 is not enough cpu voltage but can also be not enough qpi/vtt voltage

It should automatically burn the software to a disc which should allow you to boot from and and run the software.

Code 24... A quick google indicates disc issues so I'm just running windows disc checker now...

Ah yes I do have a bootable drive burning thing I used to install windows :)

Sorry for the retarded questions :/

Good luck :)

Dam fine oc there you have but scary voltages!!!

I pushed my old 2600K too hard and it degraded and was unstable at any speed or voltage :( and that was at about 1.45v and 5.5GHz but wasnt prime stable just able to bench with it.

Back off on the oc and vcore.....running that high could be degrading the cpu so its unstable at settings it used to be fine with.

Back it off to 4.8GHz or so and get the vcore down to around 1.4v
You will only notice the diff in benches :)
