BSOD issue on RO2 and now BF3 beta?

I will make a new thread in regards to BSOD i recieved from RO2 and now BF3 beta just this evening. here is some info about the crash using "whoCrashed" app Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer

BF3 crashes:

both crashes from ro2 and bf3 seems to be the same? any idea what they mean?

Specs:
• ASUS P6T deluxe Socket 1336 Mobo
• 6GB DDR3 Ram
• Nvidia 480GTX card
• Intel i7 920 2.6GHZ Nehalem
• Corsair 800W PSU
• Lian LI full tower PC-A7010 case
• Thermalright Ultra Extreme aka TRUE
• OCZ 120GB SSD
• PLus 5 SATA hdd's of different sizes and makes.
 
You sure something isn't overheating or if you have overclocked your graphics card it might be under volted. Those are main reasons My comps crashed in games b4.
 
Yeh your gpu overheating for sure. Can you turn the fans up any more when your gaming? You might need to invest in either a spotcooler fan or even a new case. Or it should be fairly easy to fit a aftermarket cooler onto the graphics card like others have surgested. BF3 puts a lot of stress on graphics cards. I have had to tweek my system a little also.
 
Which OCZ drive is it and what firmware? Do you keep it updated? While it's obvious the HAL is crashing I thought the 480s could take 100 degrees C (although this is obscenely hot)

And no i don keep the firmware up to date. Also, my games are installed in on a separate SATA2 mechanical hdd, not on the SSD. could that be the issue?

Might be worth downloading RivaTuner and telling the fan to max out after a certain heat to keep temps down. Pretty sure you can do that. If that doesn't work I'd stick that cooler on there. Inno3d i-Chill Hawk is very cheap for what it is, there are probably better ones out there for double the price... give it a google.
 
Mod it the cheap way for now

Take your case side off.

Open a window

Get a deskfan in the room to help the heat escape from the room.

See if GPU temps drop, then test to see if this gets rid of the crashes. If so, then you know its worth spending the money on additional cooling.
 
The SSD isn't one of their problem child range so I think you're probably safe with that. I'd do the MrLOL and gazzab suggestions together although it will sound like a banshee wailing it will give you some info as to where the fault lies. Making a profile that sets the fan to 100% over 70degrees C would be a good start (or hell, just raising it to 100% for a few rounds)

If the case is vertical it might be worth putting it horizontal for a bit as the cooler won't be "hanging" from the card if you get what I mean. This won't help a great deal but anything is probably better than nothing where you're standing.

If this doesn't eliminate crashing it might be worth your time to give memtest86+ a go overnight.
 
Hi all, reformated and installed win 7 again(took 30mins in total on my ssd ) and ran the intel burn test but when i woke up my pc was automaically restarted because of windows updates!

No BSOD so far and at this moment i ran the intel burn test again while im at work today.

If that has been cleared then which tool should i use to test my GPU? the 3dmark one? how long is the benchmark? is it another job that takes a few hours and best to do while im out or sleeping?
 
I'm running an msi gtx480 and it doesn't tend to go over about 85 on 100% load, by then my profile has the fan at about 85%.
