BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Having a mare with my FTTP install, it’s been going on since 18th of May. Finally got the civil work completed yesterday so last week EE stated they can expedite a ONT install due to the time I’ve been waiting. Called this morning to arrange, OR now refusing to book anything due to my case being escalated and managed by 1 person.

Said person is due to review the case again on the 6th! Anyone have any advice or faced anything similar?
Update on mine is got the ONT in but still no connection. OR insist everything is fine from their end, green steady PON so I’m inclined to agree. EE refusing to do much other than read the front line script. I suspect my issue is failed activation on my EE account so radius doesn’t work. I can see the BNG in the UniFi logs.

It’s finding someone in EE who can do something, I’m probably going to cancel it and go with aquiss. It’s been going on far too long now.

Is there any possible was of being let out of my BT/EE contract early? I have around a year left but I signed of for YouFibre 8000, I don't fancy paying for both :p

I have 900mbit with Plusnet, and find that YouTube videos tend to buffer far too frequently. I'm hardwired into my Ubiquiti Dream Router 7.

Does anyone else experience this?

Really need more information to be able to help:
  • Just one device?
  • Speedtest results on the singular device
  • Have you live tried booting into Linux?
  • Have you updated drivers?
  • Have you tried another browser?
  • Is it just YouTube or other sites?
  • Have you tried incognito?

1. Yeah, only really noticed it on my MBP
2. It gets the full 900/110mbit
3. It's a MBP
4. It's running the latest version of macOS - 26.6.1
5. Not yet
6. Just YouTube but then I don't stream from anywhere else
7. I haven't, but I'll give it a try

It's very random when it occurs. Seems to be worse with 4K videos.

If it's a Mac, make sure network service order is set to favour wired connection over wireless, they do have a habit of favouring wireless.

Cheers. I did check that already.

Been watching for a few hours this afternoon and it hasn’t done it, whereas this morning it buffered 3-4 times. Annoying.

See what happens to connection speed, network activity, and buffer health.

First time ever using BT/OR. Ordered Vodafone 910 FTTP this morning as I am done with VM renewal dance.

£150 giftcard and £25pm with £3.50 increases.

I have just signed up to EE 24 month 1.6Gb for only £33.99 pcm with £4 yearly increases and a £165 reward card via uswitch (one time connection fee of £30). I would have liked to remain with Zen but the best they could do was £56 pcm. I was paying £65 pcm. I also read somewhere that EE are trialing 10Gb in some locations via OR network.

That EE price seems insanely good for 1.6GB! It only shows me 500 for that same price, I'd jump on that with EE in a second for 1.6GB.

Still shows for me.

Must be limited by postcode/address.

I think I got Zen 1.6Gb through uswitch 18 months ago as the Zen website never offered that speed at the time..

Hoping someone's run into this before. EE 1.6Gbps package, connecting over WiFi via the EE WiFi Extender 7 Pro. For about a month I was consistently getting the full 1.6Gbps over WiFi to my PC. Then out of nowhere, it dropped to around 600Mbps and has stayed there since.

Nothing's changed on my end, no new devices on the network and I can't spot any unfamiliar/rogue networks nearby that could be causing interference. My best guess is the 6GHz channel has auto-switched to something less optimal, but as far as I can tell there's no option in the EE hub/app to manually pick or lock a specific channel.
