BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

The 80/20 trials start on 8th January and last until March/April. All trial slots are now filled as well.

HOWEVER... OR have just announced that the 80/20 trial will be limited to certain exchanges only and some people previously accepted into the trial have been told their services are no longer required.

So i was reading in the paper about the new money for broadband, there is a shocking statistic about Infinity takeup, its low. I though everyone wanted this fibre broadband, but people just aren't signing up. It is really annoying to see all the money, time and effort being put in to give people fast broadband, then know one buys in.

Has it not crossed your mind that it is just overpriced? a lot of people simply can't justify / afford the cost of fibre at the moment vs other broadband providers on ADSL2+ etc..

I have been recently looking into Infinity mainly for the upload speeds rather than the download but I keep lifting that finger off the go button when I work out how expensive it is compared to what I pay now on Sky Broadband.

It's just a tenner more per month than 30Mb Virgin ADSL (wich a phone line). Hardly overpriced for what it is, really.

I can't believe you think paying £38 a month for broadband & phone line isn't a tad expensive! And the prices are going up this month! and thats with the line saver option of £120 up front to make it £10 a month line rental equivalent.

Think the prices are going up to £29 odd + £14 odd for line rental. so you could be paying up to £43 a month, sorry but I just think its mental that BT think people can afford that.

That's the reason there is no take up!! Its just too expensive!!

You get what you pay for, from what ive seen FTTC is FAR FAR better than VM, 90% of their service is awful, you only have to look on this forum, thinkBB and their own forums to see.

Our modem pack arrived today and engineer is set for Tuesday - here's hoping it's a smooth install - want to get using the line ;)

I take it mounting the modems on the wall is the preferred option is it? Going to have to think where they could go as not really sure - will need 2 spare power points!

Nobody else is offering an unmetered and unshaped connection for a reasonable price. I'll switch to Be if they beat Sky to FTTC.

It won't be reasonable, it will be the same price as ADSL24 etc.. Be pretty much said this already in a post a while ago.

I sometimes forget that I'm actually using a BT product, it's been flawless! Never thought it'd be this good to be honest, hope it stays this way :)

I think it will be a reasonable price for unlimited and unshaped FTTC. ADSL24 doesn't offer a similar package.

agreed, I can honestly say with out a doubt BT infinity is the best service I have ever received.

I moved from Be to to BT Infinity, & so far it's been superb, can't fault it.
Getting a rock solid 35/8, might be a bit more when I change over to a 2750N & can tweak the settings.

Yeah so it will be even more than ADSL24's top package, I'm guessing £60 a month minimum. If you think paying £60+ a month for internet is reasonable you're crazy, I'd rather just have Infinity with the torrent's throttled and pay for Usenet, Works out a lot cheaper.

Its still going to have DLM the same as BT, if it was totally Bethere's network fair enough...
