BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I downloaded flash yesterday and it took a few secs.

Ok.

If you go to the download site it will take hours.

However if you go to the about flash page (where it checks if you have flash) it will install it in seconds.

Very very strange.

I never encountered this issue when with Be. Thank good I found a workaround for it.

However i wonder if it affects the download of other adobe softer from the adobe website?

It must be a BT issue, rather than adobe. Never encountered this issue before.

I thought 12am the torrent throttling was lifted.

Started a very popular torrent.

Speeds under 200KB/s untill 12.35am then went up to 500KB/s then as soon as 1am hit, full speeds, jumped up to 2MB/s +

What I've realized is the torrent throttling times vary a bit each day, like today it was running at full speed at 11:45pm whereas last week it'd be around 12:10am

Right, so my upgrade from Option 1 to Option 2 was due for completion yesterday, and now apparently there's an issue with the completion of my order. :( Will have to check the speeds and such when I get home...

It is weird - thought it was just me or my PC until I came here. I'm also wondering whether they are throttling the downloads for the games that were on introductory offer at PC Word's new digital downloads site - every time I try it tells me its going to take over a 1000 hours to download.

Was actually giving out 8mbit before on a torrent... usually its capped to 1mbit

Hoping it stays this way ^^

After a bit of a scare and 2 restarts of the equipment speeds are back:

It did disconnect on me, so hopefully this time its stable.

Didnt realise when the equipment comes on you have to manually choose to connect and have to log in!

Just did a pingtest after having upgraded to Option 2. :) Would post a speedtest, but it won't say much as I'm on my old laptop - 11g only. xD Will post wired results tomorrow.

That's my results after upgrading to Option 2. I'm quite happy with the pingtest result and my download speed, but I was expecting a higher upload since most people seem to be getting at least 7Mb. This is my laptop straight into the modem, no router involved. Any ideas?

Have you tried any other speed tests? Have you tried uploading a file somewhere using FTP that would fully max your connection?

Try these other speedtests:
