hi mate im in edinburgh - if it's any help it's most likely the high usage given covid, about 2 weeks ago i was barely getting above 500 now the suns out i get 1gbps even on fast.com
I’ve always been able to max out the nperf.com site and fast.com (as above it’s not accurate I’ve seen well over 1Gbps) it’s Speedtest.net that I can’t even early in the morning the most it will hit is 800 ish. I’m not concerned as all my large downloads max out the connection.
has anyone successfully negotiated with BT on their FTTP products?
not long had a call from BT sales, offering the exact same pricing on their website even when attempting to negotiate they said "i can't see any discounts available today"
well i'm certainly in no rush to move to FTTP - my current connection with Plusnet is solid - would just like faster speeds just for the hell of it tbh, but I ain't paying an arm and leg for the privilege
I mean if BT offered their 150mb service for £10 cheaper i'd bite - £40 a month just for that is silly imo
I get what you're saying, I pay £24 with Plusnet.£5 extra a month for double what Plusnet are giving you (assuming your paying around £28/month for 76Mbish)
Your basically wanted 150Mb for the same price plusnet offer 76Mb, that aint going to happen.
Yep, but allot of people like myself are not necessarily going to switch to FTTP unless there's a real incentive. From their point of view they've put in all this new infrastructure and need to make their money back, so why not offer discounts?BT are already the cheapest widely available FTTP ISP on the Openreach network, they have very little incentive to reduce prices further. That said, you can get £105 cashback with Quidco at the moment if you buy a 100Mbps+ service, otherwise you can wait to see what Sky and TalkTalk do.

Your incentive is a more reliable service that will always run at the advertised rate, if you're happy with FTTC then stick with it.Yep, but allot of people like myself are not necessarily going to switch to FTTP unless there's a real incentive.
