BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

oh lordy, just checked several addresses around my area and theyre all enabled, seems like they have installed the cabs but missed out a small percentage of us!
The houses around the next road can get it, but the ones on the other side can't lol.
Will just have to wait it out as theres no definite date anywhere.

Hmm this works for the BT modem shizzle? How do you flash it onto it?

Nevermind comes with a guide :D!

brb..

Hello

0 Line attenuation i'll take that..

Oh also you have to use lan port 2 to access the modem config and lan port 2 doesn't work for internet, so you have to switch back and too between ports.

edit: I enabled LAN PORT 2 for Internet access, now I cant access the modem config, reflashing didnt default it either :(!

Atleast I got to see some sexy line stats! :D

Would be good if you could lower the snr to get more throughput like you could with adsl2

Well the sync rate is capped because of the vdsl2 profile its on, thats the limit for this profile I guess. The line rate is capped by the DLM.

The output power for downstream and upstream is right down also.

Don't worry too much about that as its is only a guide. Mine was the same, it went from December 2010 to March 2011, then September 2011, then back to March and then it went live seemingly out of the blue in May. :)

*Something like that anyway.

I'll keep living in hope. :)

You know thats a bug in the firmware right? Heres a quote from the guy that hacked the FW.

Hi,

Those zero attenuation figures are obviously wrong.. But it's a firmware bug that's found in other, maybe all Broadcom 63xx VDSL2 modems, and not just the Huawei.

Here at [1] ,for example, are VDSL2 stats from a Pirelli PRGAV4202N modem-router. The Pirelli is connected via a Profile 17a (yum yum!) VDSL2 connection in Germany. It too shows a zero figure in the attenuation columns.

It's a rudimentary firmware error that could easily be corrected. It seems that Broadcom hasn't updated the web interface to show attenuation stats for VDSL2 connections. The device does report credible atten. figures on ADSL2+.

I wonder if you could try setting a new profile, lots of interesting looking commands.

Yeah i'm about the same, i'd like to know just how low it is and what the line is really capable of though...

If i had a a spare modem i'd give it a crack.....

yes, cant get it to connect to my pc through the lan :-(

That is why first time you plug in straight from PC to modem, unless when you say lan you mean ethernet. I found disabling wireless helped and you have to remember that the hg612 isn't configured for dhcp, so you might need to reset the ethernet connection again.
