Anyone going?

I'm thinking of going tomorrow to watch the practice / qualifying but not been to see the BTCC in a long time. How does the seating and grandstands work, ticket wise?

S'ok, think I found the info I needed (below). It doesn't mention the arena layout on the website, which I think they would if they were using it (?).

# FREE Open Paddock
# FREE Grandstand Seating
# FREE Entry for Children 15 and Under
# FREE Car Parking
# Silverstone Radio on 1602MW
# Giant Screen - View All of the Track Action
# Trade Mall and Shops
# Cafes/Bars and Food Outlets
# Event Mobility

Am back :) Was pretty quiet there today which is actually quite good, as the paddock was open so could get a good look around without people getting in the way. Saw a couple of the BTCC drivers but some were hiding in the motorhomes.

New pit straight building still looks the same as it did a few months ago.

Number 13 Porsche is my mate Glenn, won Pro Am 2 last year, leading this year too I think. Load of us popping along tomorrow to give some support to him and a couple of other lads in the Supercup. Did you get any shots of the Porks on track??

The kids in Ginetta's are having some fun on telly, I came home after the Clio race stated and glad I didn't pay for it being honest. I managed to watch the event from the BRDC suite which was pretty nice, but the BTCC just doesn't do it for me as it seems 1 procession after another. Watched my mate win his class in Porks but couldn't be arsed to hang around for second race.

*grumble* blommin' BRDC suite snobs *grumble* :D

Not sure what they were doing with the old part of the track. It was handy they allowed access across it just after the bridge, but it looks a bit worn out. I wonder if they are going to remove it. They could build another grandstand at Luffields there.

The Bicester Glider Club decided to have a glider competition half way through their display.....which meant they had to go into a holding patter for 15 minutes........and then cancel when the gliders didn't sod off.......followed by Mr Ministry of Defence paying them a visit!!

Bicester's competiton was actually long since planned, it runs from the 21st-29th Aug, but the actual competition route is actually decided on the day, and can be changed minutes before the start time ..

Yesterday's weather forced the gliders to start down a narrow track just on the edge of the air display area, which doubled in size for the period of the RA display .. no excusing the glider pilots [they were all told about the air display], but the first day of a competition and for a lot of them it would have been an unfamiliar area.

Considering the fact it happened just after start time, a lot of the gliders would have been flying together .. so I suspect there was an aspect of "well he's over there so it must be OK"

Not good for anyone though!
