budget build

so the swap of the internals went ahead lastnight and everything went to plan until I tried to boot it up..
it wouldn't post!! so I checked all the connections and re-seated the ram and gpu but still no post..
so I thought the sabertooth may not have survived the swap.
I had a gigabyte 990xa ud3 board with the phenom ii x6 1090t installed so I tested that and it posted.
I then removed the FX-8350 from the sabertooth and fitted it to the 990xa ud3 and tried it again.. no joy it wouldn't post. I reset the bios just incase but still no joy.
I then fitted the 1090t to the sabertooth and hey let there be life!! so my FX-8350 has went south :(
at least im still up and running.

so I had been planning on an upgrade from the 7950 next but looks like that's on hold as im now in the market for a new CPU.. Im thinking along the lines of a 9370 or 9590 but time will tell.
 
yea the green card does stand out a bit.. Ill need to go looking for a new wifi card me thinks..

I have been tempted to go down the Intel route and might just keep my eyes open for a nice bundle
 
yea mines is the same it performs well but the green does stand out..

looks like my CPU upgrade will be waiting for a wee while.. we have just got chance of bigger house so well be moving.

Im half tempted to run with the 1090t the now and keep an eye out for an i5 or i7 motherboard and CPU bundle.

Its just a pity ive not got access to the members market yet as im sure there would be a good deal to be had in there.
 
so ive sent AMD an email regarding my FX-8350's early retirement and hopefully they will come up trumps.
if they do I think I will run the 8350 to next year and possibly upgrade to a FX-9590 if they don't I think ill go looking at an Intel board and CPU bundle once we have moved and settled.

EDIT: my 8350 is an OEM version.. so might not be covered under warranty.. I can only try and hope..

yea the old Z9 case was a bit of a nightmare to get a good cable management going on and never allowed for good airflow.
the new case was a breeze to work with and im really chuffed on how its looking.
 
ive just been offered a cheap retail boxed 8350 from a boy I know
so I can see me taking that and the 1090t heading back into the gigabyte 990x board I have sitting and ill use the 8350
 
so the sabertooth board is re-homed back into the old Z9 case for the time being.. ( ive realised how much I hate that case!!) Ive fitted an air cooler and it seems to be doing alright with the 1090t Ive not had it under any loads yet though..
so plan of action..
the 8350 is in the process of being returned so hopefully it will be replaced under warranty then this will go back in the sabertooth board.
looking for a better case for it that will allow better cable management.
I will upgrade the gpu on the Intel system after xmas and then the 7950 can go back onto the AMD system

so current spec is
1090t @ 3.6 ghz
sabertooth 990fx R2.0
4gb ddr3 1600Mhz
MSI 2gb gts450
160gb Seagate H/D

again Ill look out for a cheap ssd to use as a system drive but I dont plan on spending loads of money on this as its just a second machine that my oldest will get to play games on.

will be good if the 8350 gets replaced as once I get an upgrade on the gpu I can then compare the 8350 to the 4690k back to back.

wee update on this... it has the relacement FX8350 in it and its heading to my niece as shes starting to be a bit of a PC gamer ( she's only 12 so please no ideas!! )

she has a lenovo i3 workstation that I picked up last year but its letting her down in her games.

so her mum asked her what she wanted for xmas and her reply was a steam controller!! she was asked if she wanted an xbox one or a ps4.. her reply was no there pants I want a steam controller for my pc!!!

so me being me decided it was time she got an upgrade on her machine if shes wanting to get into PC gaming... My son was using this for minecraft and youtube ( he wants a ps4 for xmas and sadly no interest in pc gaming!! ) ... so hell get the 1090t build with the gigabyte board and ill use the i3 lenovo as a media pc
