Budget upgrade from RX580 for 1440p gaming?

I put one of these in my girlfriend's PC recently as an upgrade from a 1060 3GB. It absolutely sips power at 185w flat out, runs cool and quiet, and runs everything she throws at it at 1440p UW.

It's a cracking GPU for the money.
this would replace a R9 390 that died recently

That's a pretty huge upgrade. Go for it. You'll be more than happy with the extra performance.

What CPU are you running?
Its an AMD 3600, its my sons pc and he is currently using my 2070S in there at the moment. He is also using an LG 1440p monitor

Sapphire pulse would be a great purchase.

I can confirm this is a good card, stonking at 1440. Not tested it at 4k, I can't tell the difference between 1440 and 4k, so I just run at 1440 to lower the load on the GPU.

Runs pretty cool and quiet also... it does spin up a bit when gaming, but so do the CPU fans, and the speaker volume is turned up anyway, so you don't notice the fan sound.

The bottleneck should be minimal with a 3600, but you can always drop in a 5600 or even a 5800X3D down the line if needed.

Go for the 6700 XT and enjoy all of your new frames :)

OP got his 6700 XT though I'll say the power consumption on my 6600 is amazing out of the box and I hear great things also about the 6600XT and 6700.

I am in the market for a new GPU and after reading this I am tempted by this

My search skills have failed me. Can anyone point me to a detailed review of that card? When I search for one I'm getting reviews of the Powercolor 6700XT Red Devil and Hellhound models, not the Fighter model. Which seems to be designed for mini cases, which isn't really what I want. I'm more interested in cooling and noise levels than size. I have a P600S case, a reinforced graphics card slot on my motherboard and a GPU support bracket, so neither size nor weight are important considerations.

I have not looked at any reviews, was just looking at the cost on OCUK.

Looking on there again today the pulse version people where referring too seems to have disappeared from OCUK and was £419.99

Ignore, it seems to be back on there, its this 1, the other pulse version only had 10GB of vram where this has 12gb. If I bought 1 I would rather pay the £30 more and get the below 1 going by a few people on here saying its a really good card

I can't find one either, but they're not exclusive to ITX cases. The coolers are throwbacks, big chunks of aluminium with heatpipes and no blackplate. I have a 6600 Fighter and noise levels & thermals are fine, but the fan control on the VBIOS is a bit all or nothing.

Am I the only one who thinks it's not a good idea to buy an already meandering card like the 6700xt or the 6600? Will they even do 1440 140 fps in anything?

If I wanted a 1440p card for the next few years, I'd go 3080/6800xt minimum

They most certainly will, the 6700 XT is a pretty powerful card, but you're right, the demands of newer games show that the goalposts are moving and the 6800 XT is no longer what I'd consider a 4K card.

A 3080/6800xt costs a fair bit more than a £380 6700xt. For around £400 the 6700xt isn't a bad buy, not being far of the 2080ti (in raster performance) which cost over double that. We don't yet know the 7600xt price and performance, so if someone can wait before buying a card it might be worthwhile. However, if FSR3 works (well) on a 6700xt then it could turn out to be a better buy than a 3080, and certainly better than a 3070, given the prices of the Nvidia cards
