Build me a new rig for MS FS

Been waiting on the mobo coming back into stock since it was suggested but it hasn’t so far. Any alternatives? Also any final adjustment before I go ahead and order.

thanks

i’m massively out the loop when it comes to components etc and have only built a single pc before about 7 years ago, so I’m honestly I’m not sure what’s better than what.

any graphics card you buy today has a very strong chance of being old news pretty soon.

the 30 series NVidia GPU looks like it will be very good based on leaks. The 20 series is/was a terrible series and you’d be pretty mad to buy one for a sim that isn’t even out yet.

The new series will be out of my strict budget. I also don’t have any PC just now so that’s why I’m looking to build one pretty much straight away that I know will cope enough with the sim.

the 3070 could beat the 2080ti for £500. It probably won’t but I would seriously consider selling any Turing card you buy soon, as soon as ampere is announced.

So I’ve still not got round to building that PC I was hoping to hold out for the new gfx cards but seems there a bit of a way off yet.

Would anyone change the spec on anything on the builds a few guys so kindly done on the first page before I go ahead and order? Thanks

Nvidia's are due to be announced 31st August and released likely mid/late September :p Frustrating I know lol, isn't FS20 due release next week?

Tbh running dual 4k screens you'd even bring a 2080 Ti to its knees! A single 4k display would probably just about be ok.

But with current right now prices and components, I'd get this... Still seems mad when new GPUs are so close to release though! Then again prob going to be talking £1000+ for the first models released at a guess.

Not sure what your storage needs are, so for now just spec'd a 1TB NVMe. If you think need more I'd get another of the same drive, if 2TB total is enough. :)

Case is obviously preference, you might like something else. But the P400A is decent with good airflow.

/\/\/\ That was then (Almost 4 months ago!) & this is now! I would think that the OP could wait a little while longer but what pricing on these new cards? would you have to sell your major body organs to buy one? Knowing Nvidia I have no doubt about that! :p ;)

Agreed on the 1TB drive though.

Yeah and then the ones out already will drop in price. By how much I have no experience but in theory the whole market will then be altered by the pricier ones. :)

Okay guys looking to buy a machine today. Preferably like to stay away from water cooling as I’ve only ever built one system myself and knowing me it would leak everywhere over £2k

With the new graphics cards etc is there any changes anyone would make? Highly appreciate the builds everyone’s suggested so far but I’ve no clue which ones best or value for money etc.

Thank you

  • 3900X £450
  • Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite £200
  • 32Gb 3600MHz Crucial Ballistix ~£130 (May as well get 3600MHz with decent timing with your build/budget)
  • Dark Rock Pro 4 £80
  • Nvidia 3080 £650
  • Corsair RM 750W GOLD (10 year guarantee) £100
  • WD Blue NVME 1TB £110 (Could multiply by 2 with your budget)
  • Case of your choice - with decent airflow would recommend be-quiet range ~£100

TOTAL ~£1820

Sorted

Just need a cheap gpu, gt 710 £40 or something better to game on

How much do you want to spend on a gpu?

Whichever case you pick make sure you check the cpu cooler height the dark rock pro is 162.8 mm in height.

I'd pretty much roll with what @Plec has suggested. If you want a good single 2TB NVMe, look up the Adata XPG SX8200 Pro - can be had for about £220. OcUK don't stock it unfortunately.

Also buy the 3900X elsewhere for £400 if you have a quick search and save £50.

Definitely go for the new Nvidia 3080 GPU - pre-orders/launch for them is 17th September @ 2pm I believe?

Case wise, something like BeQuiet 500DX is a good choice.

Edit: So it'd look like this... just swap the NVMe to the 2TB Adata one (£220) I mentioned from elsewhere + 3900X (£400) elsewhere too. Then add in a 3080 GPU when you can pre-order for approx £650-700 dependent on model you go for.
