Build: Obelisk

Almost got it finished and Ive gotta head out again. Will finish pics etc 2morro and get stuck in on some overclocking :D

No, I mean cut it yourself - customise it how you want it.
Im not doing any cathodes myself as this is a workstation, but there definitely is space up front to get the light emanating out the sides.

Still waiting on the upload, gonna get dinner now.

Ah i get ya, i would NEVER trust myself making a custom window, shame there are no places that can do that sort of thing for you.

I would've asked the company for 7000 then built a server quality machine. Throw 24 GB ram, 8-12 cores @ 4+ GHz, watercooling etc around there.

Or 7 graphics cards if his simulation program supports them. Either way, you should've taken the 7000. D:

Haha, cheers guys. I didnt say we didnt apply for the full amount ;)
Unfortunately theres no CUDA support just yet on this app.

Gonna get the latest pics up then sort out the cables.

OP: Apple products are more a fashion accessory than anything else. Many people who have iphones are ditsy blondes, rather than people like us who buy for the apps etc.

The PC you are building your dad will absoutely demolish any Mac currently available.

Thats truely nice not sure about the case but its different i guess. i also bought an i7 920 with the UD3R and patriot viper gotta say that the blue on blue look the bissiness :D

Only bummer is i wanted to buy white LED's fans shame OcUK don't stock them :(

The Megahalems really is an awesome CPU cooler. Used it on 3 i7 builds so far, not a single one exceeding 65C @ 4GHz.

The cooler always catches me out looking at the pictures, keep thinking its an Autobot :D

Awesome build, ram looks nice and shinny too :)

i love that case, i was already building a new system in my mind....until i checked the price!!!

The case is very nice, really like the black internals, if only Lian Li would finish their other cases in black inside. The bare aluminium internals are the worst bit about my A70F.

Starting overclocking now, Gigabyte BIOS' always strikes me as being odd. Getting used to it and doing a quick test at 3GHz now.

Nice setup mate.
I have the same board can you tell me the what volts your using for 4ghz please.

Ive only just started the overclocking mate, not got anywhere near 4GHz yet. That being said it would be completely irrelevant if I had - your system will be completely different especially as this has 6 DIMMs.
As it is a workstation im going for absolute stability here. Although the likelihood of it being stressed for 24hours solid is really low (my system was averaging 70% CPU usage) this is what Im using as a base line for a stable overclock here.

3508MHz stable atm. Was having some Vdroop issues until I found Gigabytes handy little compensator.
Not sure how much further I can get it, the RAM is really V hungry and its spiking the temps more than Id like - hot cores are maxing at 70C in Prime95.

Nice build mate... Got to love lian li, they make some class cases,

Looks like you was having fun.... Clocking @ 4:08 this morning??? Kenco and prime95 an overclockers best friends....
