Looking into building a new computer for my cousin, his current [email protected] doesn't really cut it. He has a budget of about £350 excluding a graphics card, he's having my old nVidia 7900gs :P
He needs everything, I was thinking maybe the AM2 bundle on OCUK?

Any thoughts?

He needs an operating system...

cheers

No, no monitor. He has keyboard and mouse, but if that can be fitted into the price then it would be good. His are a bit old and worn...

Decent case for the money, that power supply will be more than enough and reliable. Also got a mouse + keyboard in the budget. Mouse is awsome for its money and has a sweet LED, obviously theres diffirent colours if prefered, and keyboard will be ok, seems better than what hes got. Bit overpriced but he could fit an OS in if he went for a cheaper case, I could reccommend the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-160-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=29 if you need to shave a few quid off.

Should be an okay gaming rig :)

Windows 7 is only out until march 2010?

Dauthi, your spec looks good. I think he wants Vista though :\, or windows 7 i guess...

Ill find out :)

Okay, He will use Windows 7 then :)

So thats £350 for it. I was thinking a mini case would be good, he doesnt have much room and he will only have 1, maybe 2 HDDS and 1 DVD drive so...

with the extra money from not buying vista there's 3 ways to go i think no point getting a better CPU like the x3 720 if your pairing it with a 7900 gs.

1) Better motherboard/Ram or go AM3

2) heat sink and spacier case to make the most of the cpu when you OC it.

3) Get a new graphics card ala 4850 for £75.

If he is into gaming think 3) would be the bet investment.

Kingston HyperX 8500+ 4GB
GTX 260 896mb
Antec 300
Corsair VX550
WD Black 500GB
Vista Home (32bit) + Windows 7 (64bit)

His PC:
E5200 @ 3.5ghz
