That cart viewer is great isn't it? :)

Yeah seasonic are (like) the top PSU maker, so you can't really get any better.. Corsair PSU's are hit and miss...

Yeah like i say apart from the GPU i would say everything else is bang on..

Nice one mate, he will me made up. He will have to get a mouse/keyboard and headset too, but ill let him pick when he comes lol. Thanks for all your helps Doom:)

1 last thing, if he wanted an i7 over that i5, which would you choose?

The i5 would be my choice, better value IMO (especially on a budget)..

If he doesn't mind paying the extra for the 4770k (without sacrificing any other part of the PC) id say go for it. But id rather have a 4670k + GTX 770 (in this case) rather than a 4770k + GTX 670..

You've done well dishing out the advice bud.

I'd be considering the i7K for a well rounded rig (he might want to record and edit gameplay footage) and I'd use the 280X. The mantle API might well come into serious play with multi-platform titles once the next gen consoles launch

Thanks guys,he is going for the 770 4gb. Not sure yet if he will change to the i7, waiting on him getting here. I will only use corsair when it comes to Ram, aftermarket service is superb and 1600mhz is plenty.

Yes I noticed you like Corsair with that comment on the PSU ;)

Seasonic are pretty much the best PSU makers fullstop. The teamgroup RAM is faster and Haswells memory controller can do better than 1600Mhz, you get a lifetime warranty with OCuk who also have great customer services (thanks to 5UB)

I feel an i7 and 280x would be better balanced than the proposed rig.. And the same money too...

Good advice mate. :)

Just to show it's possible for the i7K and 16GB of RAM with the 280X. This makes for a very decent gaming rig that can double up for video editing etc i.e a sweeeet all round rig ;) Now the OP and his mate seem dead set on Nvidia and other brands. The spec is there for more for others reading the thread who might be interested.

Best of luck with the build lads, we look forward to seeing how it turns out :)
