I can't even politely ask them to keep it down, they don't speak English.
I sympathise, but I doubt you would get much sympathy from a builder who is clearly having to work during the weekend as well as having (presumably) a "hard week's graft"daveyj27 said:I've got nothing against building works going on next door, and I really don't care about the nationalities of the blokes carrying out said works, but I wouldn't mind being able to have a little lay-in on a saturday after a hard weeks graft.

I think you'll find it's in the region on 8am-10pm weekdays, 9am-9pm weekends or just Sundays.wandgrudd said:8am -11pm 7days week = acceptable

It is certainly out of order to start such noisy work at 8am on a weekend IMO.. so I sympathise. I wouldn't bother with the immigration authorities, people from eastern europe are welcomed here with open arms now![]()

I'm confident the amount of noise you can make, has to be lessened at weekends.
wormwood said:I don't think it is, 8 am on any day of the week apart from Sunday is acceptable as far as I am concerned. People need to work and sometimes this means working weekends and late nights. Rather than people feeling sorry for themselves because of the noise why not feel sorry for the poor buggers who are having to work rather than have a lie in.

Does anyone know the laws regarding this kind of noise and acceptable days/hours?

When is building or DIY noise allowed?
You should carry out any noisy DIY or building work (including using builders and other tradespeople) during the following hours - Monday to Friday (8am to 6pm), Saturday (8am to 1pm) and at no time on Sundays or bank holidays.
It is not an offence to carry out work outside these times, but one of our officers can serve a notice on you to make it an offence. We would advise you to reach an agreement with your neighbours if you want to work outside these times
