Builders noise.

8am sounds like a luxury lol. When we moved into this house it was the only 1 built on our street. Work started at 7am with trucks and cars plowing down our street then the usuall abnormally loud noises which only builders are capable of not long after lol. Had this for over a year as the street opposite us (about 30 yards away) was built right after ours was. Only really got to me when I was either in a foul mood or was desperately trying to concentrate to have it broken by long drawn out noise lol

Make us a cup of tea, love

Lol reminds me of when a guy was building 2 raised flower beds in our back garden. He use to try get a cup of tea or coffee about every 5 minutes but my dad just used the following:

builder - "cup of tea would be lovely mate"
dad - "my walls would be better first"

:D

Don't know if there is a corrolation between the people moaning about having to wake up early and the people who don't have kids ;)

With respect, I think that's irrelevant.

These guys are choosing to work the hours that they are, I however have no choice but to listen to it (unless I choose to leave my own house to get away from it).

I once had a bedroom that was on the ground floor right in front of the pavement. I also used to work a long friday night in a pub. Every saturday morning for about a month they'd be out there with the road drill literally a metre away from my head at around 7 AM.

I felt like I was going to kill someone  :D

The kangos and chopsaws have just started up.

The piledriver thing (looks like a crane and makes one hell of a bang as it smashes something into the floor - probably not the right name lol) is the thing I hated waking up to as it was so loud id have a headache for the rest of the morning lol

I wouldn't bother with the immigration authorities, people from eastern europe are welcomed here with open arms now

Yes doing the jobs were there are gaps and paying their NI and taxes while not being able to claim any benefits from the state until they have worked for one continuous year in this country.

Oh they are allowed to go to hospital but then their country of origin is billed for the medical expenses vis the contracts set up through the EU.

We are also of course allowed to go and work in their countries as well but then they probably have people with same opinions as you making the experiance slightly less fun.

Have you missed past immigration threads?

Feel you're pain mate, got building works right outside my window here at uni. Starts at 8am everyday (including Sundays) and goes on till about 6 or 7pm. Wouldn't normally mind as I'm quite a heavy sleeper, but it's quite difficult to concentrate on my work with all this noise and I have deadlines this week. To be quite honest, I'm disappointed at the uni for deciding to have such works done at a time when so many people have large amounts of work due in. Sure, I could use the library, but why should I have to when I'm paying nearly £90 a week for a "study bedroom".
