The guidelines he gave me at the start were just that the name and frequency were to be used and the colours yellow, red and black used.

He also said, in his own words, "you have complete creative control". :p

Ah well, back to the drawing board.
 
By the way, I've been messing about thinking of a less generic design and this is what I've ended up with.

Not happy with it at all though but it's always good to see where ideas go.

Flash based idea with pretty much everything animated in some way.

I.E. the transparency of navigation bars change depending on what page you are viewing... gallery appears over centre space, Blog entries open in flash popup etc.

edit- did you design your website from scratch or from a template? either way its a good effort :), i really need to get around to making myself a website rather than just a blog :o

Made from scratch and used deviantArt to find inspiration. :p The like of the navbars was an idea from dA.

Yeah, I just like symmetry. :p

The like of the text in the bottom bar, in flash, you can have a scrollbar to the side to browse that piece.

Yeah, but scrolling is something I don't like and can be easily avoided.

The best designed sites can be viewed with no scrolling.

Besides, there isn't much content on my site atm anyway that would mean you would have to scroll. :p
 
Well, here is the final design:

Not sure on the background. It will most probably change. And a white border around the page too.

Apologies about the loss of sharpness through compression.
 
So, the site has had quite a few tweaks since my last post in this thread and rather than a whole revamp, I decided to just make what I had better as it was working well and was simple.

It's still not finished though. Things like the header/banner need to be rethought and I have other features to integrate that I have the basic code set up for but not completed yet.
