If you want my input regarding the site itself, be very careful what you showcase in the portfolio, only use the best possible work you have created thus far. Anything that is not the very best quality will merely serve to put off potential clients and ruin your image.
Also IMHO the image viewer you have chosen looks a little clunky and dated. Take a look at some other designer's portfolios. Simpleviewer seems very popular, looks very classy and well polished.

Remember, your site and portfolio have to look really slick and professional. At the moment, I think you could do a lot better, but it's a decent beginning and I wish you the very best of luck with it.
Setting up a small design company (specialising in logos and stationery) is something I would love to do too, maybe some time in the future. I have been dabbling in it for about 2 years now, I just don't have enough spare time to really go for it.
