Building My Own Computer.

Just going to order the set up on reply #42. But swapping the Antec 300 for the 100. Although the GPU seems to have gone up by £20 :(.

I have changed it, the Antec 100 is out of stock, XFX PSU is out of stock, cheaper 6950 2GB

Can I still order things if they are out of stock? If I can't then I must have had the last one. :)

Yes, you may have to wait a while for them to come into stock, the parts dont even have a ETA like other parts that are due in. you may get offered crap alternatives etc.

Well that's ****ing bs. First of all my GPU goes up by £20, now I don't have a ****ing case.

Phone them in the morning, or go to the customer support section at the bottom of the forum, tell em you want to swap stuff.

Slightly OT:

Have you seen the z9 case in the flesh, so to speak, stulid?

The reason i ask is that i'm doing a build for a friend and i would normally use an antec 300 (old habits etc) as his budget is limited.

But looking at the z9 layout: outward facing hdd bays, a hole for HS access and cabling etc - on paper it looks very good value. Plus he would probably prefer the look - but i have zero experience with the case, or even zalman when it comes to cases, so...

If you have had first hand experience - how solid is the construction as i hate flimsy cases and would dismiss it as an option if it was relatively fragile in construction compared with the antec?

OP - if the reply is negative don't worry as cooling seems to be on a par with the antec (as far as i can tell via reviews).

Only ever seen positive reviews online about it, lots of little features make it nice.

Got everything today. Apparently they stopped stocking the XFX power supply, so I had to go with the OCZ StealthExtreme. Going to make it either tomorrow or Sunday. Will let all of you know how I got on ;) Thanks again.

So guys, I have encountered a problem - the computer won't start. We're not sure why, we followed the guide and as far as we are aware, everything is in the correct place. The PSU seems to be working as a light is on, on the top of my GPU. But when we press the power button, nothing happens.

I have a few pictures of the case with everything in it, if that would help. Just say so and I'll upload them.

Have you put the 8pin next to the cpu socket?

graphics card got both power leads in?

front panel power button lead on the right pair of pins? use a pair of pliers to short them for a second to replicate a button push.
