Building My Own Computer.

Yeah, both 4 pins are in the CPU socket. Graphics card has 2x6 and 1x2 overall 14 pins. They are all in. Didn't want to do the third option as I have no idea what I'm doing.

This is an overall picture of the computer at the moment.

This is what we're not sure if we've done properly.

(image tags didn't seem to work.)

Also, "Phase LED #4" Flashes when we press the on button, but then won't re flash unless we switch the plug off.

Have you got the cpu heatsink fan plugged into the CPU_FAN header?

Its next to the battery. wont work without it.

The battery is that silver disk next to the CPU_FAN header, to reset cmos just remove the plug at the wall and pop the battery out for a few seconds and then back in.

You want me to get in my car?

Also, unplug all the sata cables, case usb headers, and the case header pins from the MB to rule these out as the problem.

Then turn the psu on and short the +pw- pins with a screwdriver and see if there's any life..

I was the one helping him build it, so he is trying to fix it while I sort of read him your replies over skype haha.

He is trying to short it with a screwdriver now.. Which he said did nothing?

OK, but make sure superfluous cables are disconnected to rule them out of the troubleshooting process.

Add them one at a time if it boots (with the machine off of course ;))

YEs, remove any cable that is not essential to get the pc to post.

You want the bare minimum connected.

If you don't get any success you may have to run a minimum setup outside of the case.

I removed all cables and shorted it. This did exactly the same as the button. It did nothing BUT made PHASE LED #4 flash for a split second.

Could you 'paintshop' and upload an image of the pins your shorting?

Also, you have to make sure you touch the pins at the same time - only has to be the briefest of touches.

OK, remove one stick of memory, and test - if it doesn't work swap it out for the other stick, test again.

Red - Message/Power/Sleep LED
Yellow - Power Switch [This is the two we were shorting]
Blue Hard drive activity LED
Green - Reset Switch
White - Chassis Intrusion Header
Pink - Speaker
Orange - Power LED
Cross - No pins.

Trying RAM sticks now.

If you haven't already def do the above (CMOS reset) - i presumed you had from previous replies.

You're shorting the right pins so no worries on that front.

If the memory doesn't work it's looking like you will have to set up skeleton setup outside of the case.

Basically, removing the MB from the case and setting it up on a piece of carboard with just the gfx, 1 stick memory, cpu and the PSU attached.

He tried each stick of memory and it still didn't boot but the same LED came on apparently.

He is gunna reset the CMOS now as well I think.
