Building the kandalf LCS!!

Im torn between getting the kandalf, or getting a super armour and maybe buying a lcs later on, if i feel the need for one

It seems like the air cooling of the super armour is very good, and will keep my sli gto's cool, along with everything else

but on the kandalf it looks like i will have to get some gpu blocks, the TT one looks like it only cools the actual gpu though, i ideally want gpu block that cools the memory aswell, i wonder if the new corsair nautalis gpu block will go with the kandalf lcs?

i cant decide what will be the cheapest option, and what will be best for me

only thing i have decided on is black, had enough of this silver icute thing sat at the side of me

it doesnt come with a gpu block, only cpu, temps idle while clocked at 2.8 are around 25-29 and when i was prime testing it peaked at 32 degrees celcius

Why kind of voltage are you running? I'm thinking of getting a kandalf steel black along with either a Zalman or Swiftech GPU block set.

Also 1 more thing...how loud is it?

any conroe owners reading this thread got this case yet? what to know how it will handle a e6600 @1.575. i think the conroe seems to run a lot hotter than amdx2 range at the same volts, could be wrong tho.....

From all the threads I've read it does seem to run hotter...but also seems to have a slightly higher heat tolerance.

OMG I can't believe the triple rad....

I've been searching for a case to replace my Soprano, swearing it wouldn't be a thermaltake, prolly a stacker 810 or the like, maybe an Eclipse 62... wondering about the modding to get a 120.2 rad in it ....

And what do Thermaltake do... go and release a triple rad built case for under the price of Stacker 830!!

OMFG.

Hmmmmmm, wonder if this can tame my incandescently hot PentiumD 805 to the wild 4.0Ghz ?! :D

Anyone fancy chucking one of those Volcano 4008's into the mix as well for some REAL cooling efficiency ?!!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!??!?!?!? :D

This Kandalf LoTR beastie is best left alone unless you want a cheapish triple/tipple rad cooler which does do the job but has the following downsides :-

1. Noisy tipple [sic] radiator unless you slow it down even further at the expense of temp rise;
2. Noisy whinning pump. They can’t get it right, can they. It’s either the pump and/or the water loop harmonics shrieking like a nun;
3. Dimensionally inaccurate case [All Hong Kong-designed cases have this inaccuracy because they started off with inches and it seems that they have not changed. The add-on card slots are 2mm short of the securing backplane. When you work on a case with this inaccuracy, you’ll know that the “inches to mm” translator is at work];
4. Stupid “Car Radiator” design bodged job to the original Kandalf. Hey HK-Fuey, what’s wrong with putting it on top, eh? “What, you then need to re-jig/redesign and then you can’t call it Kandalf any more and besides, the boss wants another Roller for the forthcoming Chinese New Year? Ah Sorrr”. You’ve got to pay homage to the beast every time you have to insert a removeable media and “No” fanboyo-groupie, it is irritatingly stupid to accept this constant paying of homage;
5. Done in one of the boy’s back. Now he’s got to miss this Friday night’s fun with his missus. That’s from paying homage at the behest of some fanboy-groupie “enthusiasm”.

The good news is that it will bring temps down 5C at 1.55 Vcore compared to “tower”-type heatpipers for a Conroe and you can put-up 2-fingers at some expensive Yankee doodle-do-da concoction. There, no mis-selling, mis-representing, mis-leading, down-to-earth facts. And that’s what forums are for, right? What do you mean it's only for selling at the behest of fanboys/groupies. Schmucks ....

only 5c less on conroe @1.55, i already have the Scythe Infinity hitting 57c at full load @1.55v was hopeing for more like 10-15c less umm may have to re think my plans.
i take it you have seen this case in action?

You might get more MHz by raising the Vcore if your Conroe is willing. The radiator will handle it but this is not a quiet setup unless you turn things down. So it's heatpipe performance for the silence or better than heatpipers for the noise. Kandalf is a mere compromise and "yes", I've even helped to lift it off the bench with 6 HDDs and it was hard not to put an ice-pick through that whinging pump.

The Taiwanese are poised at the Industrialising cross-over point where those "Can-Do" attitudes needs to go "Pro". Of course, when it comes to selling tin-cans to dumbed-down kids, it's far easier. At this level, everything is "Can-Do" but tell that to the CEO who just found a slight "spider-web" patch on his new Merc paint-job and suddenly, "Can-Do" becomes a screaming "This Cannot Do". And this goes for everything we do. Crapola is for the other guy but not "me". Is this how standards are raised or merely egoistical expectations. Always do the "right thing" is the answer.

I have just built a kandalf case,

I fitted my pump differently to how they suggest, i drilled more holes to fit it. You can now fit cards in the slots all the way to the bottom, if u fit it how they suggest the bottom two slots r worthless.

Temps r really low. e6600 25c idle.

Just put one of these together and the pump does not seem to be working right.

I followed all the instructions but the pump just does not seem to have the power to push the coolant all the way through the loop.

Any ideas because I really don't want to go through the hassle of an RMA
