BulletStorm - Official Thread

Got my retail copy today. After install you do not need the DVD in the drive either. Its a lot of fun & feels like a breath of fresh air to the stale FPS genre. Reminds me a lot of Duke Nukem back in the day with its adult humour/language. Gameplay is ok as you have some inventive ways of killing & booting them up the backside never really gets old plus the combos of the leash are also a little different :D

Its not the best game ever made & the gfx are solid but not amazing as it uses UT3 engine even then FPS is really high on max everything so its not a bad game at all. Very easy to pick up & just play straight away as loading times are very quick. I would give it a 7.5/10 considering how much variety & how fresh some of it feels but like everything nowadays you can tell it was designed for consoles so its not a demanding PC game at all but at least you get the best overall experience on PC.

Variey and fresh?... more like gimmicky to me. Played for about an hour and got bored. Dont know why it's getting 8s and 9s in reviews, its a 6 at best for me. Gameplay wise, the whole slow mo shoot their limbs gets tired quick. Maybe a rental but not wasting £30 on this... maybe if they had SP Coop though

i dont understand why this game is getting 9s really. it is fun yes but the 'leesh, shoot, kick' or 'leesh, kick, shoot' mechanic is boring as hell..
its a dumb shooter i get it, but serious sam was too and thats much much better at being enjoyable.

There seem to be some issues with the GFWL implementation in this game. You're required to have an online account - no offline play, even for single player, and some users just can't get the game to login to GFWL at all.

Another GFWL fail...

Even the biggest supporters have to now admit it fails more times than it works and any developer/publisher still forcing this broken software on its users deserve to lose money in my opinion.

What does GFWL offer to the PC gamer, what benefits? It sucks.

Don't worry, i'm sure the pirates have got it fixed

It never ceases to be amusing when the pirated version has fewer problems than the legit 1.

I vaguely remember them fixing the 'overheating' bug for Mass Effect too, lol. Think it still exists in the legit game.

First impressions definitely sounds like something thats trying a bit too hard while being too simplistic to pull it off.

I preferred the part in the small city, and when you get the controller (Not saying what, to prevent spoilers) but you know what I mean :D
Yep know what you mean I just got past that bit :D Duke Nukem Forever devs should slightly be worried as Bulletstorm contains a lot of the same type of humour & OTT situations ;)

Funny that it worked perfectly for me & many others & took all of 30 secs to download the update & relaunch the game. I think its fair to say the level of blind uninformed GFWL hatred is OTT & mostly completely untrue.

Also funny how again I & many others I know have used it since 2007 when it first launched & never had the problems others get...guess we must be the random lucky ones ;) (or perhaps we can read & see how easy it is to ensure your firewall/router are set to the correct config which is so easy & childsplay takes all of 30 secs to change one time only unless your ISP resets it for some reason).

I think its fair to say that all the anti-GFWL brigade would hate it even if they got the latest PC games legit & free from MS they would still find something wrong with it somewhere..............;)

Yeah GFWL is a piece of crap - even when it works ok without outright errors, etc. its an extra layer of nuisance to wade through, I refuse to buy any game that uses it any more.

and from what I've seen BulletStorm is pretty weak as a PC port anyhow so no big loss there.

No AWPC, you are just lucky, like me.

GFWL is a piece of crap undisputably.
Whatever dude I own almost every game that uses GFWL never had any major problems than corrupt patches on Fallout3 & Batman AA which were caused by one of the update servers (same as Steam sometimes puts out corrupt files).

So yeah I am lucky that over 30 games worked perfectly for me................. I cannot begin to imagine the odds of that though ;)

I appreciate that it worked for you but sadly i'm in the "what's the point?" camp as far as GFWL goes.

Case in point: Dawn of War 2. What does GFWL honestly do that Steam couldn't? Steam can do patching, DRM, friends list, saving to the cloud... etc.

It's just another hurdle that quite frankly doesn't need to be there, and now with Retribution the stupid thing is finally being patched out in favour of a... fully Steam integrated game.

As for Bulletstorm, well, it looks fabulous but i'll wait for a price cut as i'm a stingy sod. :o

Care to inform me what use GFWL was during that time? I know it as something that does absolutely nothing in the background 99.99% of the time and occasionally pops up a message to tell me either a) my e-peen has grown or b) that i've suddenly signed out and as such can't save my damn game. Not to mention the fact its about as aesthetic and functional as a car crash.

GFWL is something tacked on to games that does absolutely nothing beneficial for anyone, not actually integrated with it.

For those who cant wait to download from steam paste this into your browser steam://install/99810 this works and I am now downloading Bulletstorm. With my crappy 900k broadband it will take 6 hours.

Completed it this evening, gotta say its one of the most enjoyable shooters I've played, thought it was another one of those mindless shooters, but oh no its fabulously fun! got to love getting creative with kills :D Going through echo mode now, which is a bit like these trial things that were in modern warfare 2.
