Bungee Mod Akasa Eclipse

old thread i know, but discussion still relevant, just ordered 3mm thick 10m length bunjee from an auction site for £3.50 inc.

Can't wait to try this out.
 
Still have my nearly 6 yr old Akasa Eclipse 62. The first build was a dual socket, dual opteron system (so a quad). Just a couple of months ago decided it was time for an upgrade, and it now houses an X6 1100T set-up. Of course today I would not buy such a huge case....
 
It completely cuts out vibrations and resonance in the case caused by the hard drive. It can make a huge difference in noise levels depending on your case and particular hard drives.

Also, holy thread revival! My case from above is long gone now, it's weird looking back on such old posts and remembering it like it was yesterday!
 
If using bungee cable - the best (neatest) way of attaching it to your drives is with P clips - screwed directly into the sides of the drive.

Seagate and raptor held with 6mm sewing elastic - that takes me back

I always wanted to use bungee cord but never got round to buying any. Your method with P clips looks much more secure! I currently have a 1tb drive in a 5.25" adapter in my Q07 and it's making a bit of noise, may have to have a go at this again. Only problem is the Lian Li mounting system doesn't lend itself well to this kind of mod.

had a quick look at the Q07 on their website and might be able to work the p clip mod.

if i've got the picture right theres a small drive case at the top of the case, should be able to attach p clips to that using washers, then let the drives hang free on the bungee cord, with small seperators to allow air flow between the drives.

you can see the side of the HHD cage in this shot below

Edit: Doh! ignore me it's not my case at all :o
just looks near identical inc the HHD's

I've never used p clips myself - that's a internet images to show what I ment
they work well for cable management aswell

Not entirely sure what you mean. The benefit of P clips would be to secure the drive rather than to attach the bungee cord to the case, as I imagine you mean.

I'm gonna have a think and see what I can come up with.

Yeh I was gonna say that photo is mine from my old Gigabyte Aurora!
 
That would depend entirely on how you have it set up. I didn't find it any more inconvenient than having to unscrew four screws as you would conventionally.

On another note, I now have some bungee cord and p clips on the way! Won't get around to doing it till after my exams are over though.
