Doesn't mean our country isn't bad in absolute terms just because we're in a better position relativley. Just look at other countries like the usa and japan.

Go and live there then, in America the rich get everything, the poor get nothing, fine if you're rich but if you were living in one of America's crime/gang/gun crime filled slums where living standards are at a 3rd world level would you still be proclaiming how good it is?

Our education system is excellent, and our healthcare system is very decent for the cost per taxpayer.

I agree on the yob/ chav culture, but it is just as bad in much of Western Europe.

If you are going to rubbish our country, post some substance to your claims... Your name suggests you are a cynical teenager with disdain for everything that isn't directly attributable to you or your peers.

Completley missed the point. The situation in the uk is pretty much the same anyway, except the rich get everything taken from them. As for proclaiming how good it is, did you even read my post? I only said they had lower tax, not that the country was perfect!

I would have thought ******, ***** or *****-*** were more appropriate than sacre-bleu. Odd how knowledge of foreign swearing is so easy to come by when I probably couldn't even order a meal in half the languages I can swear in. :o

Yeah, I'm proud to be British, as far as countries go it is pretty good. It might be an accident of birth but I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be from.

We've got lower income tax compared to Germany, Fance, Italy.

Our literacy rate is 99%. Portugal and China are in the 90-94% band. Other EU countries tend to have similar literacy rates as the UK.

The Economy is stabilising. The credit crunch has hit us, but not as bad due to our strong economy. London has now taken over New York as the financial capital of the world. Companies would rather do business in the UK than the US.

Our military technology is world class. The new Type 45's and Astute Class subs keep rogue nations in check. The comission of the two new Aircraft Carriers will create thousands of jobs.

Indeed! We have the lowest the lowest overall tax burden in Europe except the for formor Soviet states and Ireland. Our pay is pretty good too!
 
I'm proud to be English. My mother was originally born in India and my father was a Yorkshireman. I won't swear my alligience to the queen though.

I hope they have offset their carbon emissions with that circus stunt fly-by.

Hold up a second please, can we agree for a second whether dole scounging scum (tm) are in fact living in luxury or if they are suffering in abject poverty because it gets difficult to know how to maintain an argument when the people you are arguing with keep changing the pitch. I've heard plenty of people arguing from both points of view but I can't now decide who is right.
