Buyers remorse already

What has surprised me is the amount of hours I'm sinking into the game 7 Days to Die and yet is graphics aren't considered its best feature.
At this point in time I just see 4k for my PC needs as forcing a pretty major need for some serious hardware for something that I feel is not important or wanted.
2160x1440 seems a good trade off for a 27"monitor, each to their own though.

Blame it on the crap weather, I've got new kit arriving tomorrow to build a Z170/6700k.

Already have this! that runs everything I throw at it.

You are off your head. That is one of the most pointless changes I have ever seen. If you really wanted a i7 then you could have just got a 4790k.

Op, wise move on the change of heart. A 2500k is still a cracking cpu.

Adding a new system for Photoshop and keeping the 4690k as a gaming rig.
Want the new rig for the Samsung SM961 NVMe m.2 speeds for Photoshop.

well i went from 2600k to 4790k and notice nice improvement so you shouldn't worry however my upgrade after selling old parts cost me around 50 to 60 quid

Yep cancel unless you have other factors that influence your decision. Says me who has just upgraded my 2700k 4.5 ghz. I certainly would not if it was not for passing my son a new system (my old one) for his birthday. Performance wise no reason but nice to have new features like Gen 3 and 16 GB memory for the next few year. Also Think you have missed the boat, todays prices are certainly not worth it. I just got in there before as I know my future employment is uncertain while I had money burning a hole.

im still on the I7 950 @ 4.2ghz :D

save the pennies if its just for gaming.

I do have the itch to upgrade though lol

im sure you will love the new system :)

Why not try and pick up a nicely clocking 2600K/2700K instead, probably a really cheap upgrade when all said and done and if any of your games require extra threads then you're sorted.

Lots of us are waiting on a reason to upgrade cpu, so far its not come. Remember when people used to say "overclock your cpu, its not like you'll still be using it in 5 years time"...well..... /looks at sig. Yup launch day buyer January 11th 2011.

Intel are just drip feeding us pathetic performance increases because amd are a country mile behind them in performance terms.

Sandybridge is possibly the best value cpu ever :D

Seems that way, just seems like every launch coming from it people have been saying "wait for this or wait for that" and its been nothing but tiny performance increases for gaming. Haswell was meant to be the next big thing, then skylake was also meant to be it.

If the trend continues kaby lake will also be a dud and it'll be everyone looking to whatever is after that.

See it this way. Companies like Intel can't survive if everyone buy sensible. They count on people's 'must have the latest' to make their profit. If half of us only buy 2nd hand or previous generation, they'll soon be out of business

K processors are probably a small sector, or at least retail. Upgraders even less. Most production goes to OEM builders I believe.
