Buying car battery online?

Halfrauds is expensive, what is their battery discount with a trade card? Dad and I share the same 1st and last names, so I could borrow one of his wage slips and get one.

My usual source of Alfa/FIAT parts are cheaper: http://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Results&keywords=battery

I got £30 off of the battery on my 205 (£70 down to £40).

You'd be insane in the membrane to consider buying a battery (or anything car related for that matter!) from Halfords without a trade card.

Apparently dropping an asprin in each cell gives a dead battery a bit more life, if the car won't start in about half an hour when I'm going up to the Lakes I'm so trying this.

Mine's sealed so no way of doing it. I phoned the place local to work, he'll supply one for £40 or so. I'll fit it myself obviously, so that's a result.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, it seems that local indy places are the place to go for cheap batteries!

I don't have a costo card and wouldn't know where the nearest costco is from me. However people keep talking of costco, maybe i should look into it!

Sorry to dig up a [not too] old thread, but I've got similar questions.

After a new battery for my skoda pickup as it's thought to be the cause of a couple of niggles. Is there anything you are supposed to look for / avoid in batteries? I run ICE, but nothing extremely powerful, so will bog-standard batteries do? or is it worth going for a higher specced one?

quick look around gives following options:

alphaline:
44ah
360cca
£39 delivered

Numax
43 Ah
360 CCA (SAE)
£40 delivered.

12V Lucas 065/075 Performance Car Battery
60ah
540CCA
£60 delivered

12V Platinum 065/075 Quality Car Battery
60ah
570CCA
£50 delivered

Bosch 12v 065/075 Heavy Duty Car Battery
53 ah
470cca
£70 delivered

I'm guessing CCA is going to important to me, considering it normally has trouble starting. i'm having a new starter motor fitted on Monday as that's just went pop. replacing the battery has been advised.

Cold cranking amps is only relevant when starting the car. If you have a higher amp hours rating it will last longer with the radio on and the engine off. So get one with the same or better "ccA", and make your own mind up about "Ah".

As for my battery, turns out my brother has crashed enough cars that we had a spare I can use.

I thought that too when looking recently, to be fair I think bike ones are really overpriced! £60 for ones I used to get, when the car ones are 4x the size!

I just ordered a bike batt for zx as was still on original one and she wasn't turning over very well since fitting 55watt HID (high switch on current)

Just got a yuasa oem one, £39 quid and a optimate 4 charger as I don't trust the halfrauds one I have frying a new battery.

I didn't check with kwak dealer how much they were, but I bet he would have been double.

Batteries are very expensive at the moment. Luckily every car we have here takes a good old 063 which you can get for £30-£40.
