TOYOTA Soarer???

My mates dad used to have that car in red with 19" alloys, was a beauty BUT I'm quite sure my mates was a Lexus Soarer, I think your car is actually a Lexus but some idiot put a Toyota badge on it.

The Toyota Soarer is a 2 door luxury coupe. Also sold as the Lexus SC430, SC400 and SC300

No I think that Toyota, as they "are" lexus badged it up Toyota, Lexus also used it and badged it lexus.

Apparently I read somewhere agesd ago that the supra was intended to be used as a Lexus coupe of sorts.

SC430 is a totally different car mate, but the Soarer is sold in different countries as Lexus or Toyota.

SC430 - Convertible. pic

It's the same engine as the JDM MK3 Supra (1JZ-GTE) 2.5 straight six.
The Soarer was sold as a Lexus in the US (Luxury EXport to the United States) but in Japan still retains Toyota branding.

It might not be the quickest not prettiest coupe, but for £2K i'm not complaining!!

sorry missed the 2.5 part

im sure there is a 3.0l variant, the guys on mkiv.net used to reccomend soarers as a great place to source spares

think theres an NA 3l and a 4l v8, but the 2.5 tubby is supposed to be the most fun, the early tubby was twin aswell iirc:

1991 marks an all-new Toyota Soarer (Z30) with boldly executed styling from the famous Calty Design Studios in California, USA. This third-generation vehicle also marks its debut in world markets. With an available 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE V8 engine, also used in the Celsior, and a 2.5-litre twin turbo 1JZ-GTE engine, the Soarer forges new ground with its fine balance of luxury and sporty performance. later models were also produced with the 3.0-litre 2JZ-GE engine. Sold on the 'world market' as the Lexus SC400 and Lexus SC300, this was the first coupe to bear the Lexus badge. It was also the first production car to feature 'active controlled suspension', in the UZZ32 version. The luxury specification through the range also included items like air suspension, TEMS, a touch screen display and a camera in the rear spoiler to aid with reversing.

Nice purchase, they can be made very quick and most people have no idea what they are - ideal!

However please do something about that awful rear foglight. Mine doesnt have one because the rear clusters are rewired in someway. Maybe you can get something similar?

Helsby near Warrington, so if I was on the M56 you may well have seen me!

I do like this soarer. Love the DIGI dash- the only things that it lacks really is leather I guess but that's not everyone's cup of tea anyway. As long as you are not bothered about fuel economy this should be a superb cruiser at "runabout" price! It's just so different... Was insurance a problem?

As it stands it has 2 reversing lights. Legaly one of them could be rewired as a fog light, bit of a faff about but it would get shot of the fog.
